On June 22, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a roundtable discussion entitled “Administrative Law Reform: A Life’s Journey.” Dedicated to the memory of Doctor of Law and Professor Isa Ahlimanovich Khamedov, the event brought together representatives of public authorities and the judiciary, higher education institutions, research centres and international organisations, as well as the professor’s colleagues, students and family members.

The roundtable was opened by Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED. In his remarks, he emphasised the important role of administrative law in ensuring effective public administration and protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens. He also highlighted Professor Isa Khamedov’s invaluable contribution to the establishment of a modern school of public law in Uzbekistan, the development of legal education and the training of highly qualified specialists.

Bakhshillo Khodjayev, Rector of Tashkent State University of Law, Doctor of Law and Professor, delivered a speech in which he highly praised Isa Khamedov’s many years of productive service to the development of national legal scholarship and the higher education system. Professor Khamedov was recognised as the founder of a distinguished academic school that trained more than fifty Doctors of Science and Doctors of Philosophy (PhD). During the event, it was announced that he had been awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Tashkent State University of Law, and the corresponding certificate was ceremonially presented to his family members.

The roundtable addressed the current state and future prospects of administrative law reforms in Uzbekistan, the results of the transformations undertaken over the past twenty years, the draft revised version of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Court Proceedings, and the prospects for developing the system of pre-trial administrative justice. Particular attention was paid to the significance of the Law “On Administrative Procedures” in ensuring transparency in public administration, strengthening mechanisms of good governance and preventing corruption.

At the conclusion of the discussions, the participants emphasised the need to further strengthen cooperation among the academic community, government bodies, international organisations and educational institutions. The initiative to hold the traditional scientific conference “Khamedov Readings – 2027,” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Professor I.A. Khamedov’s birth, was supported. The event concluded with the ceremonial opening of an auditorium named after Professor Isa Ahlimanovich Khamedov at UWED.
