    The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the “Student Innovative Ideas Exhibition” within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9, 11, and 17. The event was organized as part of the “Regional Studies” course with the participation of second-year students of the Faculty of International Relations. Nearly 100 students took part in the exhibition, presenting their innovative projects, creative initiatives, and scientific-practical ideas. As part of the event, a competition titled “Best Project” was also held, during which students’ analytical approaches and practical solutions were evaluated. The primary objective of the exhibition was to study international transport corridors that contribute to sustainable development, examine their logistical routes and operational mechanisms, analyze existing challenges, and propose innovative solutions and project initiatives. During the exhibition, students showcased modern innovative developments and environmentally friendly products promoting a healthy lifestyle. The presented projects highlighted existing transport corridors, major transit routes, the interests of participating countries, the significance of these projects for urban development, their role in geopolitical cooperation, as well as their prospective contribution to ensuring international peace and stability. Furthermore, the event served as an important platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills related to the Sustainable Development Goals. Both national and international student groups actively participated in the exhibition, which further enriched the event’s international and academic environment. This initiative contributed to enhancing students’ interest in scientific and innovative activities while encouraging creativity, analytical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

    UWED Hosted a Scientific Article and Thesis Competition on the Topic “Resolution of Labor Disputes: Theory and Practice”

    At the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, a scientific article and thesis competition among students was organized within the framework of the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference entitled “Resolving Labor Disputes: Theory and Practice” in order to improve the quality of education, encourage students’ research activities, and implement the priority objectives set under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Program. The competition aimed to support students’ academic research on current issues of labor law and labor dispute resolution, as well as to develop academic writing skills among young researchers. The competition was conducted under the supervision of Sherzodbek Masadikov, Head of the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law Disciplines, and Shokhrukh Umirzokov, lecturer of the department. The submitted scientific works were evaluated based on criteria such as relevance, scientific originality, legal substantiation, analytical approach, and practical significance. According to the final results, students who demonstrated a high academic standard and an independent approach were awarded certificates. The organization of this competition also contributes to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16 — “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels,” particularly Target 16.3, which focuses on promoting the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice for all.

    UWED Hosts “The Day of Silence” Inclusive Communication Initiative

    On May 15, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the inclusive communication initiative “The Day of Silence”. The event was organized to promote a culture of inclusive communication among students, strengthen mutual understanding, kindness, and tolerance toward people with disabilities. Special attention was also given to teaching students basic sign language gestures that can be used in everyday communication. The initiative was organized by teachers of the UWED English Department together with first-year students of the Faculty of International Economics and Management. During the event, participants discussed the importance of communication beyond words and the role of sign language in building bridges of respect, support, and mutual understanding. As part of the preparation process, students learned 10 essential sign language gestures through a dedicated Telegram channel and video lessons. During the event, participants demonstrated the gestures they had learned in front of the organizers and their peers. The project focused on several important issues, including the development of inclusive communication in society, support for people with disabilities, the enhancement of students’ social engagement, and the promotion of empathy and tolerance. At the end of the event, students who successfully demonstrated all 10 gestures were awarded “Inclusion Ambassador” certificates. “The Day of Silence” initiative became not only an opportunity for students to gain new knowledge and practical skills, but also an important platform for deepening their understanding of equality, respect, and mutual support in modern society.

    UWED Faculty Organizes Meeting to Strengthen “Family – Mahalla – Educational Institution” Cooperation

    On May 15 of this year, faculty from the English Language Department of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, together with representatives of the “Olmachi” mahalla citizens' assembly, organized a meeting dedicated to further strengthening the “Family – Mahalla – Educational Institution” partnership. The event was attended by department professors and instructors R. A. Arslanbekova, D. I. Allaberganova, Z. N. Akmalova, M. Kh. Batirova, N. B. Tashpulatova, F. Sh. Zaripova, and Kh. A. Amadjonov, as well as representatives of the “Olmachi” citizens' assembly. During the meeting, the importance of effective interaction between families, the mahalla, and educational institutions in the learning process was particularly emphasized. It was noted that this cooperation is a key factor in the spiritual, social, and intellectual development of the younger generation, as well as in the formation of a healthy and active civil society. The dialogue included an analysis of the work carried out this year in cooperation with the “Olmachi” mahalla citizens' assembly. Specifically, the discussion covered providing children from low-income families with English language textbooks, supporting families in need of social assistance within the mahalla, providing them with necessary school supplies, and maintaining a systematic dialogue with youth. There was also an exchange of views on existing challenges and their solutions in areas such as supporting unemployed women in the mahalla, increasing minors' interest in education, and engaging children from low-income families in foreign language studies. To further strengthen cooperation, proposals were made to organize English classes for unemployed women aged 20 to 30, involve minors from low-income families in learning English, provide them with necessary learning materials, and regularly inform parents about reforms in the education system. Furthermore, the need to continue strengthening cooperation between mahalla activists, elders, faculty, citizens' assemblies, and district crime prevention inspectors was noted. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to consistently continue cooperation within the “Family – Mahalla – Educational Institution” framework, to implement the proposed measures in stages, and to conduct ongoing monitoring.

    On May 13-14 of this year, students of the Faculty of International Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, under the leadership of Naubakhar Uzakbaeva, a lecturer at the Department of International Law and Public Legal Sciences, participated in an international round table and educational exhibition titled "Education and Career in the Field of Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism," held at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi. The event was organized by the International Network Institute and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by representatives of leading higher educational institutions of Russia and Uzbekistan, relevant government agencies, and international organizations, as well as experts in the field of financial security and countering the legalization of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism. During the meetings, modern approaches to training specialists for national financial intelligence systems, the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into educational programs, and issues of increasing the financial literacy of youth were discussed. Students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy demonstrated high activity during roundtables, masterclasses, and interactive sessions. The "Grafus" training system, designed for modeling financial audits, sparked particular interest among the participants. By analyzing suspicious transactions, identifying illegal money laundering schemes, and using modern digital tools in a game- and practice-oriented manner, participants had the opportunity to feel like true financial scouts. Within the framework of the exhibition, students also familiarized themselves with the educational programs of the participating universities, the prospects for academic mobility, and international projects in the fields of law, economics, cybersecurity, and digital technologies. The participation of students from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in this event aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 - "Qualitative Education" through the development of modern professional competencies and practice-oriented education, SDG 8 - "Decent Work and Economic Growth" through the training of qualified personnel in the field of financial security, and SDG 16 - "Peace, Justice, and Effective Institutions" - through the formation of a culture of legality and the strengthening of international cooperation in the field the fight against financial crimes. The event became an important platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and involvement of youth in the development of modern mechanisms for ensuring financial security and law and order.

    “Student Forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – 2026”

    On May 13, 2026, the Faculty of International Relations of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized the “Student Forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – 2026.” The event was led by the Dean of the Faculty, M. Abdullayeva, together with the faculty members of the Department of Political Science - M. Abdurakhmanova, N. Kushaeva, and D. Khudoyberganova. During the forum, participants were provided with an opportunity to analyze contemporary global challenges based on their academic research, examine their causes and consequences, and develop practical recommendations. Students explored the experiences of various countries, conducted comparative analyses of their approaches to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, and presented their own solutions and proposals regarding existing issues. Particular attention within the forum was devoted to issues such as environmental security, social equality, poverty reduction, quality education, gender equality, and international cooperation. The forum served as an academic platform for young researchers, fostering the development of innovative and critical thinking among students. The theses prepared by participants were reviewed by experts, and the best research works were recognized and awarded across several nominations. At the conclusion of the event, special emphasis was placed on the importance of supporting youth initiatives and enhancing the role of young people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Master class on Investment Treaty Arbitration and ICC Proceedings

    On 13 May 2026, a masterclass dedicated to Investment Treaty Arbitration and ICC Proceedings was organized for LL.M. students specializing in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The masterclass was led by Aakansha Dave, a New York‑based lawyer whose professional experience spans immigration and cross‑border legal matters across the United States, India, and Europe. Ms. Dave previously served with the Case Management Team of the ICC Arbitration (International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce) in New York. In this role, she analyzed arbitration proceedings across multiple sectors and examined procedural developments under the ICC Rules. This hands‑on experience with one of the world’s leading arbitral institutions offered students valuable insight into the management of disputes – from case administration to the application of institutional rules. The masterclass was organized by Rushana Sadullaeva, an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Civil Law and International Private Law Disciplines of the University. This event made a significant contribution to fostering academic dialogue, strengthening the connection between theory and practice, and improving the educational process. It also aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 – "Partnerships for the Goals" – in particular Target 17.6, which calls for enhanced international cooperation in science, technology and innovation and improved access to their benefits.

    Interdisciplinary Educational Project Promoting Independent Learning and Reading Culture Successfully Implemented at UWED

    The English Language Department of University of World Economy and Diplomacy successfully implemented an interdisciplinary educational project within the framework of a PhD research study devoted to enhancing students’ independent learning through interdisciplinary approaches in ESP education. The project was organized in cooperation with Management subject teachers and focused on strengthening the connection between English language learning and professional economic disciplines. As part of the initiative, students completed an interdisciplinary independent learning task based on reading and analyzing a professional development and management-related book. The task required students to apply concepts studied in their specialty subjects while simultaneously developing English language, analytical, presentation, and critical thinking skills. The project was designed not only to improve academic competencies, but also to encourage students’ reading habits and independent intellectual engagement. In this regard, the initiative was aligned with the national “Besh Tashabbus” framework, particularly the direction aimed at increasing young people’s interest in reading and promoting meaningful educational activities outside the classroom. At the same time, the project supports the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, practice-oriented, and lifelong learning opportunities through interdisciplinary and student-centered educational approaches. During the implementation stage, students independently read selected materials, prepared analytical reflections and presentations, and discussed management-related ideas in English. The collaboration between English language instructors and Management teachers enabled students to approach professional topics from multiple academic perspectives and apply interdisciplinary knowledge in practice.  As a final stage of the project, a research survey was conducted among participants in order to evaluate students’ and teachers’ perceptions of interdisciplinary independent learning. More than 200 students and 12 teachers took part in the survey. The overall feedback demonstrated a positive attitude toward interdisciplinary assignments and highlighted their effectiveness in increasing motivation, engagement, and professional relevance in the learning process.  The project outcomes confirmed that interdisciplinary cooperation can significantly contribute to the development of students’ independent learning skills, reading culture, and professional communication competencies in English. The English Language Department expresses sincere gratitude to all participating teachers, students, and university administration representatives who supported the successful realization of this educational initiative.

    UWED Holds Introductory Event for Prospective Female Students

    On May 8, as part of its traditional “Open doors”, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) held career guidance events aimed at expanding girls' participation in higher education and increasing their interest in international relations, diplomacy, economics, political science, and law. The event was attended by young women from more than 60 secondary schools and 17 academic lyceums in the city of Tashkent, the Tashkent region, and other regions of the republic, along with their parents and representatives from their educational institutions. During the event, information was presented on the university's activities, structure, admission requirements, curriculum, achievements, and future plans. Faculty deans discussed the educational programs, unique aspects of studying at UWED, and employment prospects for graduates. They also answered all questions from the prospective students. Participants were provided with detailed information about the modern educational environment at UWED, international exchange programs, opportunities for grants and scholarships, conditions for foreign language study, and the support systems available for female students. The event helped raise awareness among young women about the educational opportunities at UWED, strengthening their interest in the fields of international relations, diplomacy, world economics, law, and political science. It also fostered their leadership potential and further strengthened the university's cooperation with schools, academic lyceums, colleges, and public and state organizations throughout the republic in supporting young women. This initiative serves to expand women's enrollment in higher education, uphold the principles of gender equality, and develop the leadership potential of young women.

    SDG MUN: A platform for global dialogue and sustainable solutions

    On May 6 of this year, the SDG MUN — a Model United Nations conference dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — was held. The event brought together not only students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, but also representatives of other higher educational institutions, creating a broad and interactive platform for dialogue. The event was organized with the support of Kushbakova S.X., a teacher at the Department of International Economic Relations, and Abduraxmanova M.A., a teacher at the Department of Political Science. Within the framework of the simulation, participants acted as delegates of various countries, representing and defending their states’ interests and positions. The main objective was to discuss global challenges and develop effective solutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. During the sessions, delegates conducted negotiations, drafted resolutions, and worked toward reaching consensus on important issues such as climate change, poverty reduction, quality education, and sustainable economic growth. SDG MUN became an important platform for developing diplomacy, critical thinking, and international cooperation skills. Participants gained valuable experience in collaborating on global initiatives and conducting negotiations. Holding such events contributes to shaping a new generation of leaders capable of addressing modern challenges and contributing to sustainable development.
