UWED representatives took part in an international conference dedicated to the image of a teacher

UWED representatives took part in an international conference dedicated to the image of a teacher

On May 30 this year, the faculty of the Uzbek and Russian Languages Department of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy took part in the plenary session and discussion of issues at the international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Teacher's appearance of a 21st Century: Historical Heritage, International Experience, Problems and Solutions" organized by the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan. The idea of "creating an education, medical and social protection system that fully meets the needs of the people and international standards" put forward in the "Uzbekistan - 2030" Strategy implies taking the education system to a qualitatively new level. In turn, if we proceed from the position that education is a two-way process, then naturally, the status and image of a teacher will be of particular importance in this process. It is this idea that is reflected in the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Education" and "On the Status of a Teacher". Based on the above provisions, the following questions naturally arise: "What should be the teacher of today, i.e. the 21st century?", "What is the image of a teacher in the spiritual heritage of great thinkers?", "How is this issue resolved in developed foreign countries?", "What tasks should be set for teachers and what conditions should be created for them, based on the requirements of modernity?" and others. The corresponding answers to these questions were formulated at a conference held jointly with foreign partners, and practical recommendations were developed based on the study of the historical heritage and international experience. Representatives of the Russian St. Petersburg University, a number of universities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the Tajik State Pedagogical University took part in the international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Teacher's appearance of a 21st Century: Historical Heritage, International Experience, Problems and Solutions"  in person and online, organized by the Department of Pedagogical Education of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan, and exchanged views. The conference participants - education enthusiasts, scientific educators - jointly agreed on important strategic directions of education reform and made proposals for plans for future activities. At the end of the conference, active participants were awarded certificates and all participants were invited to the dinner table. This conference is included in the plan of scientific and practical events approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The electronic scientific collection will also be indexed on the scientific platform Google Scholar (Google Academy) in accordance with modern standards for publishing articles. Professors and teachers, scientists of universities and research institutes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and foreign countries, who have significant practical results in scientific research on the topic of the conference, were invited to participate in the conference.

Raising Students’ Legal Awareness: An Initiative for Justice and Progress

Raising Students’ Legal Awareness: An Initiative for Justice and Progress

In line with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the University of World Economy and Diplomacy is actively applying innovative and modern approaches in the educational process. One of the notable initiatives in this direction was launched by the Faculty of International Economics and Management during the 2nd term, where the instructors of “English Language” department and “The Department of International Law and Public Law Sciences” collaborated on a joint project aimed at improving students’ legal awareness. As part of this project, first-year students developed both their language skills and legal literacy by studying English in the context of international law. The core topic selected for the project was “Lobbying”, through which students acquired the ability to analyze, discuss, and express opinions on important socio-political and legal processes in English. In the framework of the "Theory of State and Law" course, students were introduced to the concept of lobbying, its legal foundations in international law, its role in democratic societies, and the spheres of political and legal influence. They explored the legal and illegal forms of lobbying, conflicts of interest, interest groups, and their links to civil society institutions. This not only enhanced their legal knowledge but also developed their ability to critically evaluate complex political processes. Meanwhile, within the “English Language” course, practical sessions were organized to consolidate theoretical knowledge. During these sessions, students participated in a lobbying simulation, acting as representatives of various interest groups. They critically approached a particular existing law, regulation, or policy and proposed well-reasoned changes. They drafted legal proposals and defended them in English. This process helped students deepen their understanding of legal terminology in English and improve their oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and civic engagement. The choice of the topic “lobbying” was not accidental. In modern democratic societies, lobbying is a widely used tool that allows citizens and interest groups to influence the legislative process directly. For students, studying this topic is essential not only for professional training but also for developing civic consciousness. Through lobbying, citizens gain opportunities to participate in governance and law-making processes. This fosters a sense of social responsibility, active participation, and a strong civic stance among students. Moreover, students examined lobbying in a global context, exploring its application and significance in international politics. This contributes to shaping them into globally minded specialists with modern competencies and a solid understanding of how democratic systems operate worldwide.

Towards Quality Education through Interdisciplinary Cooperation

Towards Quality Education through Interdisciplinary Cooperation

During the second semester of this year, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, teachers of the departments of "English Language" and "System Analysis and Mathematical Modeling" implemented a project on interdisciplinary cooperation. This project, based on the fourth goal of the SDGs, which provides quality education, was attended by second-year students of the Faculty of International Economics and Management. As you know, second-year students study English for Special Purposes (ESP) at the university. They have the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge of special subjects in English lessons, as well as to apply their English language skills in the study of special subjects. With this in mind, for the effective organization of independent training of second-year students, the teachers of the departments of "English Language" and "System Analysis and Mathematical Modeling" developed and implemented a two-stage task aimed at developing both knowledge and language skills in the field of management. As part of the task, students read the book "Goal" by Eliyahu Goldrat, which is considered one of the masterpieces of world literature, and strengthened their theoretical knowledge in the field of management. At the second stage, they presented this knowledge and their impressions of the book in English lessons. This project, based on an interdisciplinary approach, contributed to the improvement of the quality and content of ESP teaching and management and showed positive results.
