    UWED Faculty Members Held Roundtable Discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals in Mahalla

    Faculty members of the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organised a series of educational events dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals at the Alisherobod Mahalla Citizens’ Assembly in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent. On 19 May 2026, faculty members R. Yusupaliyeva, Z. Israilova and D. Soliyev held a roundtable discussion entitled “Mahalla and the Sustainable Development Goals in New Uzbekistan: Cooperation and Responsibility.” In addition, on 30 June, Z. Israilova, D. Soliyev and A. Abdujalilov organised another meeting on the topic “The Mahalla Institution and the Sustainable Development Goals in New Uzbekistan: Inclusive Development and Social Partnership.” The events brought together the chairperson of the mahalla, assistants to the district governor, social workers, youth leaders, women’s activists, prevention inspectors, community activists and young people. The roundtable discussions focused on the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the community level, strengthening cooperation between public authorities and civil society institutions, and improving the legal awareness of the population. During the discussions, the participants considered practical mechanisms for integrating the following goals into the activities of the mahalla: No Poverty — SDG 1, Quality Education — SDG 4, Gender Equality — SDG 5, Decent Work and Economic Growth — SDG 8, Sustainable Cities and Communities — SDG 11, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — SDG 16. At the conclusion of the events, it was emphasised that the role of the mahalla institution in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is steadily increasing. The importance of cooperation between public authorities, civil society representatives and local residents in implementing these goals at the local level was also highlighted.

    As part of the “90 Relevant Days” program, a spiritual, educational, and career-guidance meeting entitled “The Youth of Our Mahalla — Future Diplomats” was organized in the Yangi Olmachi mahalla of Mirzo Ulugbek District. The event was initiated by the faculty members of the Department of Political Science at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, together with members of the “Women Leaders” Club. The primary purpose of the event was to further increase local young people’s interest in higher education, encourage them to make informed career choices, broaden their understanding of international relations and diplomacy, and contribute to the development of their intellectual and professional potential. During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the importance of acquiring modern knowledge and practical skills, developing independent thinking and leadership qualities, actively participating in public life, and making a meaningful contribution to the country’s development. Special attention was also given to the knowledge, sense of responsibility, communication culture, and strong foreign-language skills required for young people who aspire to pursue careers in diplomacy, international relations, and public administration. The event contributed to strengthening young people’s interest in higher education, encouraging continuous self-development, supporting them in defining clear professional goals, and further enhancing cooperation between the mahalla and the higher education institution.

    On June 5, 2026, a knowledge-based quiz competition was organized for students of the Faculty of International Relations under the guidance of the faculty members of the Department of Political Science at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The primary objective of the event was to enhance students’ political literacy, develop their ability to analyze political processes, and strengthen their decision-making skills. The quiz was designed in line with Goal 4 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – “Quality Education” – and aimed to promote the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical learning while fostering the intellectual development of students. Furthermore, the event assessed students’ knowledge and competencies through questions related to the functioning of political institutions, the rule of law, mechanisms of public administration, and contemporary global political processes. In this regard, the initiative was implemented in accordance with SDG 16 – “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.” During the quiz, participants demonstrated their knowledge of international organizations, global governance systems, and current political trends. At the conclusion of the event, certificates were awarded to students who achieved outstanding results and actively participated in the competition. The event contributed to the enhancement of students’ political culture and civic engagement, strengthened their sense of involvement in socio-political processes, and enriched their understanding of contemporary issues in international relations and governance.

    Faculty of UWED organized a charity event in the Olmachi mahalla citizens' assembly

    Today, cooperation between family, the mahalla, and educational institutions holds a vital place in the educational process. Their effective interaction is of great importance for the spiritual and social development of the younger generation, as well as for building a healthy society. On June 2 of this year, Khurshida Khodjaeva, Nargiza Khayrullaeva, and Mahbuba Sadykova, instructors from the Department of European and Turkic Languages, organized a charity event in the Olmachi mahalla citizens' assembly, which is under the patronage of UWED. This charity event was held to further strengthen cooperation within the “Family-Mahalla-Educational Institution” framework, support socially vulnerable and low-income families, and widely promote an atmosphere of kindness, generosity, and solidarity in society. During the event, families in need were provided with material assistance in the form of food and funds. This initiative was a practical demonstration of the instructors' social responsibility, their humanitarian qualities, and their active participation in the life of the mahalla. Representatives of the Olmachi MCA and the citizens who received assistance expressed their sincere gratitude to the instructors of the Department of European and Turkic Languages for their attention and practical support. It was particularly emphasized that such good deeds contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation between mahalla residents and the educational institution. This charity initiative was dedicated to the 17 Global Goals adopted by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting our planet, and ensuring peace and prosperity for all people, specifically focusing on areas such as: No Poverty (SDG 1) and Zero Hunger (SDG 2). It should be noted that charitable and humanitarian events play an important role in strengthening a sense of mutual aid, social solidarity, and responsibility in society.

    The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the “Student Innovative Ideas Exhibition” within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9, 11, and 17. The event was organized as part of the “Regional Studies” course with the participation of second-year students of the Faculty of International Relations. Nearly 100 students took part in the exhibition, presenting their innovative projects, creative initiatives, and scientific-practical ideas. As part of the event, a competition titled “Best Project” was also held, during which students’ analytical approaches and practical solutions were evaluated. The primary objective of the exhibition was to study international transport corridors that contribute to sustainable development, examine their logistical routes and operational mechanisms, analyze existing challenges, and propose innovative solutions and project initiatives. During the exhibition, students showcased modern innovative developments and environmentally friendly products promoting a healthy lifestyle. The presented projects highlighted existing transport corridors, major transit routes, the interests of participating countries, the significance of these projects for urban development, their role in geopolitical cooperation, as well as their prospective contribution to ensuring international peace and stability. Furthermore, the event served as an important platform for students to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills related to the Sustainable Development Goals. Both national and international student groups actively participated in the exhibition, which further enriched the event’s international and academic environment. This initiative contributed to enhancing students’ interest in scientific and innovative activities while encouraging creativity, analytical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

    UWED Hosted a Scientific Article and Thesis Competition on the Topic “Resolution of Labor Disputes: Theory and Practice”

    At the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, a scientific article and thesis competition among students was organized within the framework of the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference entitled “Resolving Labor Disputes: Theory and Practice” in order to improve the quality of education, encourage students’ research activities, and implement the priority objectives set under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Program. The competition aimed to support students’ academic research on current issues of labor law and labor dispute resolution, as well as to develop academic writing skills among young researchers. The competition was conducted under the supervision of Sherzodbek Masadikov, Head of the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law Disciplines, and Shokhrukh Umirzokov, lecturer of the department. The submitted scientific works were evaluated based on criteria such as relevance, scientific originality, legal substantiation, analytical approach, and practical significance. According to the final results, students who demonstrated a high academic standard and an independent approach were awarded certificates. The organization of this competition also contributes to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16 — “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels,” particularly Target 16.3, which focuses on promoting the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice for all.

    On May 15, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the inclusive communication initiative “The Day of Silence”. The event was organized to promote a culture of inclusive communication among students, strengthen mutual understanding, kindness, and tolerance toward people with disabilities. Special attention was also given to teaching students basic sign language gestures that can be used in everyday communication. The initiative was organized by teachers of the UWED English Department together with first-year students of the Faculty of International Economics and Management. During the event, participants discussed the importance of communication beyond words and the role of sign language in building bridges of respect, support, and mutual understanding. As part of the preparation process, students learned 10 essential sign language gestures through a dedicated Telegram channel and video lessons. During the event, participants demonstrated the gestures they had learned in front of the organizers and their peers. The project focused on several important issues, including the development of inclusive communication in society, support for people with disabilities, the enhancement of students’ social engagement, and the promotion of empathy and tolerance. At the end of the event, students who successfully demonstrated all 10 gestures were awarded “Inclusion Ambassador” certificates. “The Day of Silence” initiative became not only an opportunity for students to gain new knowledge and practical skills, but also an important platform for deepening their understanding of equality, respect, and mutual support in modern society.

    UWED Faculty Organizes Meeting to Strengthen “Family – Mahalla – Educational Institution” Cooperation

    On May 15 of this year, faculty from the English Language Department of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, together with representatives of the “Olmachi” mahalla citizens' assembly, organized a meeting dedicated to further strengthening the “Family – Mahalla – Educational Institution” partnership. The event was attended by department professors and instructors R. A. Arslanbekova, D. I. Allaberganova, Z. N. Akmalova, M. Kh. Batirova, N. B. Tashpulatova, F. Sh. Zaripova, and Kh. A. Amadjonov, as well as representatives of the “Olmachi” citizens' assembly. During the meeting, the importance of effective interaction between families, the mahalla, and educational institutions in the learning process was particularly emphasized. It was noted that this cooperation is a key factor in the spiritual, social, and intellectual development of the younger generation, as well as in the formation of a healthy and active civil society. The dialogue included an analysis of the work carried out this year in cooperation with the “Olmachi” mahalla citizens' assembly. Specifically, the discussion covered providing children from low-income families with English language textbooks, supporting families in need of social assistance within the mahalla, providing them with necessary school supplies, and maintaining a systematic dialogue with youth. There was also an exchange of views on existing challenges and their solutions in areas such as supporting unemployed women in the mahalla, increasing minors' interest in education, and engaging children from low-income families in foreign language studies. To further strengthen cooperation, proposals were made to organize English classes for unemployed women aged 20 to 30, involve minors from low-income families in learning English, provide them with necessary learning materials, and regularly inform parents about reforms in the education system. Furthermore, the need to continue strengthening cooperation between mahalla activists, elders, faculty, citizens' assemblies, and district crime prevention inspectors was noted. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to consistently continue cooperation within the “Family – Mahalla – Educational Institution” framework, to implement the proposed measures in stages, and to conduct ongoing monitoring.

    On May 13-14 of this year, students of the Faculty of International Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, under the leadership of Naubakhar Uzakbaeva, a lecturer at the Department of International Law and Public Legal Sciences, participated in an international round table and educational exhibition titled "Education and Career in the Field of Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism," held at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi. The event was organized by the International Network Institute and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by representatives of leading higher educational institutions of Russia and Uzbekistan, relevant government agencies, and international organizations, as well as experts in the field of financial security and countering the legalization of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism. During the meetings, modern approaches to training specialists for national financial intelligence systems, the introduction of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into educational programs, and issues of increasing the financial literacy of youth were discussed. Students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy demonstrated high activity during roundtables, masterclasses, and interactive sessions. The "Grafus" training system, designed for modeling financial audits, sparked particular interest among the participants. By analyzing suspicious transactions, identifying illegal money laundering schemes, and using modern digital tools in a game- and practice-oriented manner, participants had the opportunity to feel like true financial scouts. Within the framework of the exhibition, students also familiarized themselves with the educational programs of the participating universities, the prospects for academic mobility, and international projects in the fields of law, economics, cybersecurity, and digital technologies. The participation of students from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in this event aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 - "Qualitative Education" through the development of modern professional competencies and practice-oriented education, SDG 8 - "Decent Work and Economic Growth" through the training of qualified personnel in the field of financial security, and SDG 16 - "Peace, Justice, and Effective Institutions" - through the formation of a culture of legality and the strengthening of international cooperation in the field the fight against financial crimes. The event became an important platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and involvement of youth in the development of modern mechanisms for ensuring financial security and law and order.
