    The campaign “One student - one tree” was held at UWED

    On November 20 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held an environmental campaign "One Student – One Tree" as part of the nationwide project "Green Space". The event was aimed at improving the environmental culture of students, expanding their practical participation in environmental conservation and landscaping the university territory. The event was opened by the First Vice-Rector for Youth Work and Spiritual and Educational Work of the UWED O. Yusupdzhanov, who noted: “The main goal of the 'One Student, One Tree' initiative is to educate young people in environmental awareness and strengthen their practical role in protecting the environment. Planting at least one tree by each student contributes not only to the landscaping of our territories, but also to the formation of a responsible attitude to nature among young people. Support for such initiatives and their systematic continuation are among the priorities of our university”. The guest of honor of the event was the First Deputy Chairman of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan B. Khafizov, who emphasized: “Ensuring environmental sustainability requires a conscious and responsible attitude from every member of society. The 'One Student, One Tree' initiative is an important step in strengthening the role of young people in environmental development and involving them in practical activities. As the Ecological Party, we support such good initiatives and highly appreciate the contribution of young people to creating a greener, healthier and more sustainable future for our country”. During the campaign, 10 acacia seedlings, 10 ash seedlings and 10 badryanka seedlings were planted on the territory of the university. We are confident that the trees planted today will turn into beautiful, sprawling trees in the future and will contribute to the creation of a green and environmentally friendly environment.

    On October 29, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a master class entitled “The Importance of Combating Poverty in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.” The event featured Mr. Baxtishod Baxadirovich Khamidov, Head of the Group at the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a graduate of the University of Tokyo (ranked among the world’s Top 30 universities), and an executive expert for projects of the World Bank, GIZ, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The session was attended by second-year students of the Faculty of International Relations. As an international expert, Mr. Khamidov delivered a scientifically substantiated lecture exploring the concept of poverty, its economic and social dimensions, and its role in shaping the trajectory of societal development.He highlighted the significance of measuring poverty through relative poverty indicators, income distribution, and consumption metrics, emphasizing their importance in evaluating a country’s level of sustainable development. The master class also included a comparative analysis of the conceptual and practical approaches to poverty alleviation in the Global South and the Global North. Mr. Khamidov provided an in-depth examination of social policy reforms implemented in the United States and the European Union, evaluating them as effective mechanisms for reducing poverty and promoting social inclusion. In the interactive discussion that followed, students engaged actively with the speaker and received comprehensive, evidence-based answers to their questions.The event served as an important platform for enhancing the theoretical and practical competencies of young scholars in the areas of sustainable development, social justice, and economic equality.

    Master class on legal regulation of entrepreneurial activity within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

    In the framework of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and in order to improve students' knowledge of legal regulation of entrepreneurial activities, a master class was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on October 25 of this year. The class was attended by Ogabek Nodirbek ugli Tohirkhonov, a lawyer at the international law firm “Capstone and Legal Partners”, the chief lawyer of “DE LI SIN” LLC, as well as Shohrukh Umirzokov, a teacher at the Department of “Civil Law and International Private Law disciplines” of UWED, and 3rd-year students of the Faculty of “International Law”. Lawyer Ogabek Tohirkhonov introduced the legal basis for the use of privileges and opportunities currently provided for entrepreneurial activity in our country and its practical results, and expressed his views on the prospects for the development of law in entrepreneurial activity. The students showed great interest in the topics discussed, asked various questions on specific aspects of the entrepreneurial process, such as the establishment, registration, liquidation, and reorganization of legal entities, and received detailed answers from the expert. This master class is in line with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 16 – “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies, ensure access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and participatory institutions at all levels, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals”, in particular, paragraph 16.3 – “Promote the rule of law and ensure equal access to justice for all” and paragraph 16.7 – “Enhance the participation of citizens, business entities and civil society organizations in decision-making at all levels of government”. This master class will help students develop in-depth knowledge of the legal regulation of entrepreneurial activities, prepare students for modern legal practices and enable them to play an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

    The Office for Youth Affairs of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized an information session for female students and staff in order to raise awareness in the field of health and draw attention to women's reproductive health issues. The event was held in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Opening the session, the First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work of the UWED O. Yusupjanov emphasized the relevance of the initiative and said: “Every woman should take care of her health. Early detection of the disease is a chance to save not only health, but also life. Regular screenings and vaccinations are critical steps in protecting women”. Representatives of the Women's Advisory Council of the University and the trade union took an active part in the session. Obstetrician-gynecologist of the highest category, expert of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Muhabbat Ahmadova noted: “Today's topic is vital for every woman, especially for young girls. Such events should be held not only in October, but throughout the year, because a healthy generation is the basis of a healthy society”. She also gave the participants important recommendations on disease prevention, the benefits of early diagnosis and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive personal consultations. At the end of the session, information materials were distributed and explanatory work on a healthy lifestyle was carried out. The event aroused great interest among students and employees of the university.

    On 20 October this year, Professor of the Department of Civil Law and International Private Law Disciplines at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Imamova Dilfuza Ismailovna, held a master class for 4-year students of Tashkent State University of Law. The topic of the class was “International Credit and Settlement Relations” within the framework of the discipline “International Private Law”. During the master class, Imamova Dilfuza Ismailovna revealed key issues related to international legal and conflict-of-law regulation of credit and settlement relations. Particular attention was paid to types of international loans and mechanisms of international settlements. Students gained not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills: real-life cases were examined during the class, which allowed them to better understand the specifics and differences between types of international settlements. The students showed great interest in the topic of the master class, actively participated in the discussion, asked questions about the practical application of international private law in the field of international credit and settlement relations, and received substantive, reasoned answers. The event contributed to strengthening academic dialogue, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and expanding international educational cooperation. The master class was held as part of the implementation of SDG 17 “Partnerships for sustainable development”, specifically paragraph 17.6, which provides for the strengthening of international cooperation in science, technology and innovation.

    On 14 October 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a master class on “International Road Transport of Goods” organised for third-year students of the Faculty of International Law. The guest expert was Ismailova Ra’no, a practicing specialist in international transport law, lawyer, UNDP project manager, and Doctor of Philosophy in Legal Sciences (PhD). During the master class, the lecturer covered in detail current issues related to the international legal regulation of road freight transport, based on the provisions of the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR, 1956) and the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets (1975). Particular attention was paid to judicial practice and typical disputes arising in the performance of international freight transport contracts. Professor Dilfuza Imamova, of the Department of Civil Law and International Private Law at UWED emphasised the importance of the topic in the context of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting its connection with the need to develop international cooperation in the field of transport and logistics. The students showed great interest in the issues discussed, actively participated in the discussion, asked questions about the legal aspects of international transport, and received detailed answers. The event contributed to strengthening academic dialogue, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and expanding international educational cooperation.
