International Experience and New Approaches: UWED Hosts Master Class with Leading Media Industry Specialists

On August 26, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a master class featuring Charlotte Kramer, President of Müller & Schindler (Austria), and Wiland Scharf, Founder and CEO of Blue Planet TV Production GmbH (Germany). The event was part of the international media forum “Islamic Civilization: A New Look—New Discoveries”, which brought together representatives from leading international media outlets, publishing houses, television companies, documentary filmmakers, and the scientific and expert communities.
The international forum, held in Tashkent and Samarkand from August 24 to 29, aims to explore modern ways of presenting the rich scientific, cultural, and spiritual heritage of Islamic civilization to a global audience. It places special emphasis on the potential of documentary film, television, publishing projects, digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and other modern technologies.
During the master class, Charlotte Kramer discussed the work of Müller & Schindler, the publisher's international experience, and the importance of facsimile editions in preserving and popularizing unique cultural heritage. For many years, the publishing house has worked to reproduce historical manuscripts and rare documents with the utmost fidelity to the originals, contributing to their preservation and introduction into broad academic and cultural circulation.
Particular attention was given to the publisher's collaboration with its Uzbek partners. Since 2017, Müller & Schindler has participated in several large-scale projects dedicated to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. These include facsimile editions of the Katta Langar Quran, the “Divan” of Husayn Bayqara, the “Zafarnama”, “Temur Tuzuklari”, and other unique manuscript treasures.
In turn, Wiland Scharf presented the experience of Blue Planet TV Production GmbH in television production and documentary content. The company specializes in creating travel reports, documentaries, and television formats that acquaint viewers with the culture, history, and tourism potential of various countries and regions. Over its years of operation, the company has implemented numerous international projects and television programs.
Participants showed particular interest in the practical aspects of how international media and production companies operate: from finding unique stories and developing a media product concept to selecting modern formats for presenting them to a wide audience.
The guests also shared their impressions of Uzbekistan, noting its rich historical and cultural heritage, its unique blend of tradition and modernity, and the country's significant potential for international publishing, television, and cultural media projects.
The master class served as an important platform for professional dialogue and the exchange of international experience between representatives of the global media industry and UWED students. Participants had the opportunity not only to learn from the professional experience of foreign experts but also to discuss the future of modern media, cultural diplomacy, and international cooperation.
Holding such meetings as part of the international media forum helps expand professional networks, develop international collaboration, and cultivate a new generation of specialists capable of effectively representing Uzbekistan's historical and cultural heritage in the global information space.
