    The UWED team “Zakovat” took the honorable 3rd place and received a ticket to the Republican stage

    With the aim of enhancing the logical knowledge of gifted youth in higher education institutions, increasing their participation in selection-based intellectual games, ensuring state support for the organization of such competitions, creating the necessary conditions, and raising the overall intellectual potential of the population, the regional qualifying round of the “Intellectual Olympiad” was held on November 21 of this year in Tashkent. This competition was organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the non-governmental non-profit organization “Zakovat Intellectual Club.” The event was conducted to improve young people’s knowledge, unlock their intellectual potential, and encourage their social engagement. Students from 42 prestigious higher education institutions participated in the Tashkent regional qualifying round. The Zakovat national team of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy performed confidently in the selection stage, securing an honorable 3rd place and qualifying for the Republican stage. This remarkable result reflects the intellectual capacity, persistent work, and strong team spirit of the students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.     A preventive measure was carried out at the UWED to protect against the effects of drugs, psychotropic substances and religious extremist movements

    As part of the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On comprehensive measures to effectively protect the health of the population and the gene pool of the nation from drug addiction and drug crimes", an educational and preventive meeting was organized at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy under the slogan "Let's say no to drugs!". This event was devoted to the issues of protection against the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic drugs, the consequences of their use, as well as the harmful influence of religious extremist movements. The main purpose of the meeting is to increase the legal awareness and responsibility of young people, explain practical mechanisms for protecting against various harmful phenomena and directing them to a healthy lifestyle. The event was held on the basis of a plan approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At the meeting, the head of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district, Major Kayumov Abdukhamid, as well as a master's student of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Pardaev Rakhmiddin Nurullaevich, who shared with students their practical experience, observations and information supported by the legal framework on the topic. In the course of their speeches, experts explained the serious physical and mental harm caused by narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to the human body, as well as spoke in detail about the legal consequences of crimes in this area. They emphasized the dangerous factors of falling under the influence of religious extremist ideas, methods that negatively affect the consciousness of young people, and the importance of strengthening spiritual immunity in the fight against this. During the meeting, it was noted that a healthy lifestyle, physical activity, active participation in public life, respect for the law and responsible citizenship play an important role in the stability of society and the formation of young people as comprehensively developed personalities. The event served to strengthen students' skills of vigilance, critical thinking, legal literacy and protection from the influence of harmful movements.

    Master Class on “Contemporary Challenges to International Humanitarian Law” held at UWED

    On November 20, 2025, the Department of “International Law and Public Law Disciplines” of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) held a master class entitled “Contemporary Challenges to International Humanitarian Law” as part of the course International Humanitarian Law. The event was organized under the leadership of Associate Professor Sh.M. Khamdamova and featured one of the leading researchers in international law in Central Asia — Sergey Vyacheslavovich Sayapin, Professor at the School of Law of KIMEP University (Kazakhstan). During the master class, Professor Sayapin addressed actual issues in the development of international humanitarian law in the context of modern armed conflicts, with particular emphasis on challenges related to hybrid warfare, the digitalization of armed conflict, and the transformation of traditional mechanisms of international accountability. Special attention was given to the application of IHL norms in the use of autonomous weapon systems and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as legal responsibility for their deployment. The following topics generated particular interest among students: ·  adaptation of international humanitarian law to autonomous weapon systems and UAVs; ·  the potential crisis in the effectiveness of international accountability mechanisms for war crimes; ·  specific features of the regional approach of post-Soviet states to the application of IHL norms; ·  the effectiveness of international judicial institutions in holding perpetrators accountable for violations of international humanitarian law. The master class was conducted in an interactive format and sparked lively discussion, contributing to the enhancement of students’ academic awareness and critical understanding of contemporary trends in international humanitarian law. Such initiatives play an important role in strengthening academic cooperation and fostering the scientific potential of UWED students in the field of international law.

    UWED hosted a festive program called “One Motherland, One People, One Flag!”

    On November 18 of this year, events dedicated to the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan began early in the morning at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The festive morning began with the distribution of ribbons with flags to teachers, staff and students by active and initiative student volunteers of the university as a sign of deep respect and loyalty to state symbols. This noble initiative not only strengthened the festive mood, but also further increased respect, pride and attention to state symbols among the team. During the day, a cultural, spiritual and educational event was organized at the university under the motto “One Motherland, one people, one flag!”, dedicated to the Day of the State Flag. The solemn part of the event began with the ceremony of bringing the State Flag to the stage, accompanied by a military orchestra. The high respect shown during the raising of the flag, the patriotic spirit sounding in the inspiring melodies of the orchestra, further strengthened the sense of national pride and responsibility among the participants. After that, the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan was performed, to which all participants paid tribute. The events held contributed to the formation and further strengthening of feelings of love for the Motherland, devotion to the country, deep respect for national values and state symbols in the hearts of young people. In particular, the distribution of ribbons with flags, solemn ceremonies and educational performances contributed to the development of such qualities as self-awareness, national unity and a deep sense of civic duty among students. This event was of great importance not only as a holiday, but also as an important educational initiative aimed at increasing the sense of devotion to the Motherland, national identity and patriotism among young people.

    Master Class on International Humanitarian Law: “Hybrid Warfare and Hostilities in Cyberspace”

    On November 18, 2025, a master class for fourth-year students was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy within the framework of the academic course “International Humanitarian Law”, under the leadership of Associate Professor of the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines, Sh.M. Khamdamova. The event was dedicated to the topic “Hybrid Warfare and Hostilities in Cyberspace” and featured the participation of a guest expert, Yaroslav Galeev — Research Fellow at the University of Tartu (Estonia), and a specialist in international humanitarian law and contemporary forms of armed conflict. In his presentation, the lecturer analysed the transformation of modern armed conflicts, the expansion of hostilities beyond traditional theatres of war, and the growing role of cyberspace in the contemporary system of international security. Particular attention was given to the legal challenges arising from the application of international humanitarian law in the context of cyber operations and hybrid military strategies. Yaroslav Galeev provided an in-depth overview of the legal qualification of cyber operations, the problem of attribution in cyberspace, the relationship between international humanitarian law and international human rights law in hybrid conflicts, as well as the difficulties of recognising cyberattacks as acts of armed force under international law. The master class contributed to the development of students’ analytical skills and the deepening of their knowledge of international humanitarian law in the context of the digitalisation of contemporary armed conflicts.

    An educational conversation was held on the topic “Corruption is the enemy of development”

    On November 15 of this year, within the framework of the “Coordination Hour” for students of the Faculty of International Law, an educational conversation was organized on the topic “Corruption is the enemy of development”. The main goal of the event was to form a conscious and critical approach to corruption among students, a deep awareness of its negative impact on the development of society, as well as further strengthening the principles of honesty and responsibility. During the conversation, the course coordinators provided detailed information on the origin of corruption, the factors contributing to its occurrence, as well as the detrimental consequences for public administration and public life. In particular, it was emphasized that corruption undermines economic stability, reduces the effectiveness of reforms and negatively affects the atmosphere of justice and trust. Also, the students were explained in an accessible form the systemic reforms, legal framework and preventive mechanisms implemented in our country to combat corruption. During the practical part of the event, students presented presentations, informative speeches and videos on the topic. They highlighted various manifestations of corruption, its impact on the lives of young people and the development of society based on students' own views. During the discussion, an exchange of views took place on the importance of honesty, legality, personal responsibility and civic position. This educational meeting contributed to the formation of students' irreconcilable attitude to corruption, the development of a legal culture and the increase of civic responsibility. Regular organization of such events at the faculty remains an important factor in strengthening the legal awareness of young people.

    A spiritual and educational event “Meeting of Three Generations” was organized at UWED

    On November 14 of this year, a high-level spiritual and educational event called "Meeting of Three Generations" was organized at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in order to increase the spiritual and moral maturity of students, educate them in the spirit of patriotism, devotion to the Motherland, national pride, civic responsibility and social activity. This meeting was aimed at strengthening in the minds of students such qualities as love for the Motherland and responsibility for the prosperity of the country, by uniting representatives of different generations on one platform and exchanging their life experience and lessons. The event was attended by an employee of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General Tokhir Akhunovich Mullazhanov, Adviser to the Minister of Defense, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Uzbekistan, retired Colonel Navruzov Abubakr Davlatovich,  as well as a number of specialists and veterans with many years of experience in the field of defense and law enforcement. During the meeting, the veterans spoke in detail about the trials they faced in their official activities, responsible decisions, and dedication for the prosperity and security of the Motherland. Warnings were also given about alien ideas, religious extremist movements, radical groups and information attacks that are trying to negatively affect the consciousness of young people in the modern era of globalization and rapid exchange of information. The importance of vigilance, caution and independent thinking in combating them was emphasized. During the event, a group of talented students who took an active part were awarded letters of appreciation. A ceremony was also held to present official service certificates to the UWEDFORCE student collective, which is distinguished by social activity and contributes to strengthening discipline, public safety and a positive environment among young people. This process served to further strengthen the activity, initiative and responsible position of young people in the life of the university. At the end of the event, students turned to specialists with questions of interest to them. The meeting was held in the spirit of a sincere, open dialogue and formed a sense of high motivation among students, strengthened the spirit of patriotism and a responsible approach to future activities.

    Roundtable Discussion on “Uzbekistan – A Land of Interethnic Harmony and Religious Tolerance”

     On November 14 of this year, a roundtable discussion titled “Uzbekistan – a Land of Interethnic Harmony and Religious Tolerance” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in cooperation with the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan. The main purpose of the event was to widely promote initiatives and ideas aimed at further strengthening in society the principles of mutual respect, harmony, and solidarity. The discussion was dedicated to the following international documents: the UN General Assembly Resolution “Education and Religious Tolerance” (2018), the Resolution on the “International Day of Dialogue between Civilizations” (2024), as well as the International Day for Tolerance. The roundtable was attended by citizens representing various nations and ethnic groups, representatives of public organizations, youth, and specialists in the relevant field. A representative of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan,         Muhammadolim Muhammad Siddiqov, addressed the participants and spoke about the reforms being carried out in the country to strengthen interethnic harmony and interfaith cohesion, as well as about the practical manifestations of religious freedom and tolerance. He emphasized that mutual respect, friendship, and unity among representatives of different nationalities and religions are among the most important values of our state. The Director of the Center, Qobiljon Sobirov, noted that the purpose of today’s event is to enhance mutual understanding through interfaith dialogue and public diplomacy, as well as to strengthen universal values that contribute to peace and sustainable development. Professor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Etibor Sultanova, stressed that public diplomacy is not only official interaction, but also a strong cultural and spiritual bridge that fosters trust and friendship among peoples. Religious tolerance, she noted, is one of the key conditions for preserving this bridge in a strong and sustainable manner. The Chief Specialist of the Youth Affairs Office, S.Tillakhodjayeva, also delivered remarks, sharing her views on activities and initiatives aimed at developing a culture of tolerance among young people and promoting the ideas of interethnic harmony. At the conclusion of the meeting, proposals and recommendations were put forward to further strengthen harmony and solidarity, as well as to promote a culture of tolerance among the youth.

    Administrative Court Practice for UWED Students: from theory to practice

    On November 7 and 13, 2025, at the initiative of Professor I. Khamedov and Senior Lecturer D. Soliev of the Department of International Law and Public Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, regular practical classes were organized for students of the International Law Faculty at the Tashkent City Administrative Court. The events were aimed at improving students' practical skills and familiarizing them with the administrative court system of Uzbekistan. During the two-day practical classes, UWED students learned about the operations of the Tashkent City Administrative Court, the procedures for handling administrative cases, and the administrative proceedings process. The focus was on: Observing court hearings: students participated in actual court hearings to consider complaints against decisions, actions (or inactions) of administrative bodies. Procedural Process: The rights and obligations of participants in administrative proceedings, as well as the procedure for presenting and evaluating evidence, were explored. Courts and Public Administration: The role of administrative courts in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens and their importance in ensuring the legality of government agencies' activities were explained. These practical classes, organized by Professor I. Khamedov and Senior Lecturer D. Soliev, allow students to adapt their theoretical knowledge to the practical needs of the Uzbek legal system. For students of the International Law Faculty, studying national administrative judicial practice is an important step in developing skills for harmonizing international law with national legislation in the future. The University of World Economy and Diplomacy aims to systematically improve the level of practical training for legal professionals by continuing such practice-oriented forms of education.
