    An Event Dedicated to the Protection of Women’s and Children’s Rights Was Held at the UWED

    On May 11 of this year, an awareness-raising event dedicated to the essence and significance of Presidential Decree No. 33 of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “On Additional Organizational and Legal Measures to Strengthen the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children and Prevent Harassment and Violence Against Them,” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event was organized under the leadership of Professor E. Sultanova, Chairperson of the UWED Women’s Advisory Council. It was attended by Sh. Shakirova, Deputy Hokim of Mirzo Ulugbek District and Head of the Department for Family and Women’s Affairs, senior inspectors of the Internal Affairs Department of Mirzo Ulugbek District, as well as the coordinator of the Faculty of International Relations. Opening the event, Professor E. Sultanova emphasized that protecting the rights of women and children, ensuring their interests, and creating a healthy social and moral environment within families are among the priority directions of state policy. She also introduced the invited guests and specialists to the students. During the event, Deputy Hokim Sh. Shakirova provided students with detailed information about the content and significance of the Presidential Decree, the priority tasks outlined in the document, and the reforms being implemented to protect women and children from all forms of violence and harassment. In her speech, she particularly focused on increasing women’s social activity, strengthening their legal awareness, and fostering a healthy family environment. In addition, F. Jumaniyazova explained to the students the recent updates in current legislation, procedures for обращения in cases of harassment and violence, mechanisms for issuing protection orders, as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizens. During the event, students received comprehensive answers from specialists to their questions. The meeting, held in an open dialogue format, played an important role in increasing young people’s legal awareness, fostering intolerance toward violence, and widely promoting the principles of gender equality.

    UWED hosted a spiritual and educational event "Memory is Eternal", dedicated to May 9 - the Day of Memory and Honor

    On May 7 of this year, the university organized a spiritual and educational event titled “Eternal Memory” dedicated to May 9 — the Day of Remembrance and Honor. The main purpose of the event was to honor the memory of ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Motherland and the peace of the people, express respect to war and labor veterans, and further strengthen feelings of patriotism, national loyalty, and respect for national values among the younger generation. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, members of the Mirzo Ulugbek District Council of Nuroniy, war and labor veterans, university professors, teachers, and students. The event was opened by the university’s First Vice-Rector O. Yusufjonov. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of the Day of Remembrance and Honor, noting that respect for human dignity and honoring those who served the Motherland have always been an inseparable part of the nation’s values. He also highlighted the importance of honoring the elderly, benefiting from their life experience, and recognizing the invaluable role of veterans in educating young people. During the event, guests spoke about the spiritual importance of remembrance and appreciation, the value of peace, and the education of youth in the spirit of patriotism and military devotion. Veterans shared stories from their lives and careers, encouraging young people to become educated, responsible, and devoted to their country. The artistic part of the event also left a strong impression on the participants. Students recited poems dedicated to the Motherland, peace, and courage, while musical performances and theatrical scenes were presented. In particular, performances reflecting the bravery and selflessness of people during wartime deeply moved the audience. At the end of the event, veterans were presented with commemorative gifts and letters of appreciation by the university administration. The “Eternal Memory” event left all participants with memorable impressions and a high spiritual spirit.

    A Practical Visit Aimed at Strengthening Patriotism Among Youth

    “Fostering a sense of pride in one’s homeland is an important factor in enhancing human dignity.” Based on this idea, an educational and awareness-raising event was organized on the eve of the Day of Memory and Honor at the initiative of University of World Economy and Diplomacy and its Women’s Advisory Council. The visit was attended by the Chair of the Council, Professor E. Sultanova, the Coordinator of the Faculty of International Relations M. Abdurakhmanova, as well as activists of the “Leader Girls” movement. Students and master’s degree participants had the opportunity to closely familiarize themselves with the activities of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the visit, participants were provided with detailed information about the Committee’s multifaceted activities aimed at ensuring national security, protecting economic interests, and preventing illegal activities. They also explored modern operational mechanisms, areas of international cooperation, and innovative approaches within the customs system. This event contributed to strengthening the participants’ sense of patriotism, respect for national interests, and responsibility toward the state. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to the Committee’s personnel, who work around the clock to safeguard peace and stability in the country. Future diplomats emphasized their readiness to make a meaningful contribution to the development of the country, noting that this is not only a professional duty but also a universal human responsibility.

    A Week of Spiritual and Psychological Development Organized for Students and Youth

    In today’s rapidly intensifying era of globalization and information flow, developing not only the intellectual potential of young people but also strengthening their spiritual values and psychological resilience has become one of the priority directions of state policy. In this regard, University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a series of seminars and training sessions within the framework of the “Week of Spiritual and Psychological Development” aimed at supporting students’ spiritual growth, psychological stability, and personal development. The central event of the week was the seminar entitled “Spiritual and Psychological Development as an Important Factor of Future Success,” organized by university psychologist N. Norova in cooperation with course coordinators. During the event, based on the principle “Spiritual growth in a safe and healthy environment is a pathway to new opportunities,” the interconnection between students’ spiritual maturity, psychological resilience, and life success was comprehensively explained through analytical and interactive approaches. During the seminar, psychologist N. Norova emphasized the importance of evaluating surrounding events and developments through high moral and ethical standards, drawing appropriate conclusions from various life situations, and maintaining constant awareness and vigilance. It was also noted that the stronger an individual’s “spiritual immunity” and aspiration for inner growth are, the more resistant they become to external negative influences and stressful situations. The practical part of the training sessions focused on the following areas: -      Developing emotional stability and inner balance; -      Managing aggression in stressful situations and fostering constructive approaches; -      Strengthening determination, leadership qualities, and self-confidence; -      Applying psychological techniques that contribute to spiritual growth and personal development. Through interactive exercises, students gained important skills in discovering their hidden potential, managing emotional states, and building healthy social relationships within the community. Throughout the week, course coordinators regularly monitored students’ participation and spiritual-psychological well-being. At the conclusion of the event, it was emphasized that spiritually and psychologically mature, independently thinking young people with a strong sense of responsibility serve as a key pillar of societal development. The university administration and the psychological services department announced their intention to continue organizing such educational and practical initiatives on a regular basis in the future.

    A student of UWED successfully completed a prestigious internship at the United Nations World Tourism Organization

    The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) signed a Memorandum of Understanding, as well as a cooperation agreement on the organization of student internships, on January 23, 2025. This cooperation aims to strengthen bilateral relations, expand international experience opportunities for students, and develop professional skills on a global scale. Within the framework of this cooperation, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of International Relations at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Yo‘ldashaliyev Xusanboy, successfully completed a paid prestigious internship at the Department of Institutional Relations, Cooperation and Advocacy of the United Nations World Tourism Organization from April 1 to April 30. During the internship, he actively participated in processes aimed at developing international cooperation, strengthening inter-organizational relations, and supporting and implementing global initiatives in the tourism sector. The student demonstrated initiative, a responsible approach, and strong professional skills, earning the attention of the international team. At the end of the program, Yo‘ldashaliyev Xusanboy was received by the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Shaikha Al Nowais, where he was awarded a certificate for successfully completing the internship program.

    Master Class on Family Relations in Private International Law

    On May 6 of the current year, a master class on the topic “Family Relations in Private International Law” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy for third-year students of the Faculty of International Law. Masadikov Sherzodbek, Head of the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law Disciplines, and Professor Imamova Dilfuza of the same department organized the master class. For the master class, Nilufar Khoji-Akbarovna Rakhmonkulova, Doctor of Legal Sciences and Professor of the Department of Private International Law at Tashkent State University of Law, was invited as a specialist in the field of family relations in private international law. During the event, Nilufar Rakhmonkulova addressed conflict-of-law issues arising in the sphere of marriage, particularly issues concerning the law applicable to the form, procedure, and conditions of marriage. She also discussed the conditions for marriage in the Republic of Uzbekistan and foreign countries, the provisions of the Family Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan regulating family relations involving foreign citizens and stateless persons, as well as issues related to the recognition of marriages concluded outside the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Special attention was paid to conflict-of-law issues arising in the regulation of relations between spouses, including the law applicable to personal and property relations of spouses. The students demonstrated great interest in the topic under discussion, actively participated in the discussions, asked various questions, and received comprehensive and well-reasoned answers. The organization of this master class directly contributes to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16, “Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels,” particularly Target 16.3, aimed at promoting the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice for all. In addition, the event contributes to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals,” particularly Target 17.6, which focuses on enhancing international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation and expanding access to them through the development of international academic cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of private international law. The master class became a significant contribution to the development of academic dialogue, the strengthening of scientific cooperation, and the improvement of the educational process in the field of private international law.

    Master class on the law of damages for breach of contract

    On 6 May 2026 a master class was conducted by the prominent expert Djakhongir Saidov – a professor of Commercial Law at King's College London for the postgraduate students of “International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution” program of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. Professor Saidov explained the notion of damages, the issues of recovery of damages to reputation and loss of chance. He also outlined approaches in recovery of legal costs, methods of limiting damages including foreseeability and mitigation with reference to the Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts.      The students showed a great interest in the discussed topics, asked questions regarding the practical aspects of the law of damages and received detailed answers from the speaker. The master class was organized by the Chair of the Civil Law and International Private Law Department Sherzodbek Masadikov and attended by teaching staff Dilfuza Imamova, Rushana Sa’dullayeva and Alisher Bobonazarov. The master class made a significant contribution to the development of academic dialogue, the strengthening of the connection between theory and practice, and the improvement of education process, and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals,” particularly Target 17.6, which calls for the development of international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation and the expansion of access to them.

    UWED students took part in the “European Union Festival 2026” event

    Third-year students of the “International Relations” faculty at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) actively participated in the “European Union Festival 2026,” held on 2 May 2026 to mark Europe Day at the Yoshlar ijod saroyi in Tashkent. The event was organized under the supervision of Associate Professor A.M. Radjabova of the Department of International Relations within the framework of the course “The European Union in Contemporary International Relations”. The festival served as a prominent international platform, bringing together around 50 representatives of international organizations, ambassadors of the member states of the European Union, foreign experts, and media representatives. Throughout the event, students visited thematic pavilions, where they explored the educational opportunities offered by European countries, as well as projects being implemented in Central Asia, particularly in Uzbekistan. Particular emphasis was placed on the alignment of the presented initiatives and programs with the Sustainable Development Goals advanced by the United Nations. In this context, the event exemplified progress toward Goal 16 — Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — and Goal 17 — Partnerships for the Goals. Students demonstrated strong interest in the ongoing initiatives of leading international organizations, including UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, GIZ, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and Goethe-Institute, currently implemented in Uzbekistan. Participation in the festival significantly contributed to enriching students’ theoretical knowledge through practical exposure, deepening their understanding of international cooperation mechanisms, and strengthening their capacity for active engagement in contemporary global development processes.
