    A spiritual and educational event "Renaissance of the Timurid Era" was held

    April 7, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a spiritual and educational event, "The Renaissance of the Timurid Era," dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great commander and statesman, Amir Temur. The event was attended by the university administration, faculty, researchers, and students. Its primary goal was to deepen the study of the rich historical heritage of Amir Temur and the Timurid era, to widely popularize their contributions to world civilization, and to strengthen among young people a sense of national identity, patriotism, and respect for historical memory. The First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work, O. Yusupjanov, delivered a welcome speech. He particularly noted that the figure of Amir Temur occupies an exceptional place not only in the history of Central Asia but also in world history. He emphasized that Temur's principles of governance, based on justice and strict discipline, remain relevant today. The Vice-Rector also called on young people to study historical heritage deeply and draw important lessons from it. During the event, research and practical reports were presented. Professor S. Gulomov of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan delivered a report on "The Role of Amir Temur in World Civilization," in which he provided an analytical assessment of the significance of a centralized state, developed trade routes, and the patronage of science and culture during the Timurid period. Professor K. Dzhuraev of the Department of Political Science presented a report on "The Principles of Justice in the Views and Activities of Amir Temur," detailing the importance of the rule of law, social justice, and accountability in the system of public administration. Achievements of talented students were recognized during the event: winners of various competitions and projects were awarded, which served as additional encouragement for their further academic and creative endeavors. The artistic part of the event included the poetry composition "Sohibkironim" and a theatrical performance dedicated to historical events involving Amir Temur and Tokhtamysh Khan. This performance vividly and clearly depicted historical events and left a strong impression on the audience. Holding this event is of great importance for strengthening respect for national history and rich cultural heritage, popularizing the legacy of Amir Temur, and improving the effectiveness of spiritual and educational work in the country.

    The “New Uzbekistan Student Olympiad” has been ceremonially launched in Uzbekistan

    On April 6, a grand opening ceremony for the “New Uzbekistan Student Olympiad” sports competition was held at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory. This event serves to broadly popularize sports among students, encourage their participation in physical activity, and promote the development of a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, the competitions held as part of the Olympiad aim to foster an atmosphere of friendship, unity, and healthy competition among young people, as well as to further increase their interest in sports. Speakers at the opening ceremony emphasized the role of sports in the lives of young people and its importance in developing not only physical but also spiritual and mental fortitude. During the event, the participating teams were wished good luck, and confidence was expressed in their future high achievements. A total of 1,047 students from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy registered to participate in the “New Uzbekistan Student Olympiad” across 7 sports via the ERP platform, which clearly demonstrates the strong interest students have in sports. This Olympiad will be organized in three stages: • University stage (April 1-30); • Regional stage (May 1-15); • Republican final stage (June 1-10). The competitions are planned to be held for students from public, private, and foreign higher education institutions in our country across 7 sports: 3x3 basketball, volleyball, handball, track and field, table tennis, swimming, and soccer. These sports competitions are vital for improving the physical health of students, providing meaningful organization for their leisure time, and widely promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

    UWED was hosted a seminar-training titled “Priority Policy Directions of New Uzbekistan in Preventing Early Marriages Among Youth”

    On April 6, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a seminar-training session for first-year students of the Faculty of International Relations on the topic: “Priority Policy Directions of New Uzbekistan in Preventing Early Marriages Among Youth”. The main purpose of the event was to provide students with detailed information about the psychological, legal, and social consequences of early marriages, as well as to familiarize them with the key state policy priorities of New Uzbekistan in this area. During the seminar, the negative effects of early marriage on education, personal development, and long-term life plans were thoroughly discussed. The keynote speaker, leading psychologist Barno Karimova, delivered an insightful presentation, sharing professional recommendations on emotional resilience, responsible decision-making, and avoiding common psychological challenges among youth. The seminar included open discussions, real-life case analyses, and a question-and-answer session. The event was also attended by Professor E. Sultanova, Chairwoman of the UWED Women’s Advisory Council, and First-Year Group Supervisor M. Abdurakhmanova, who shared their views on preventing early marriages, empowering young women, strengthening youth social protection, and supporting their moral and personal development. This seminar aimed to promote informed decision-making among students, enhance their legal literacy, and reinforce healthy social values. At the conclusion of the event, participants received practical recommendations and essential explanations related to the topic.

    The achievements of the students of the Faculty of International Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy clearly demonstrate the steady growth of their academic, practical, and creative potential. A scientific article by second-year student Rukhsora Anorboeva, dedicated to the reflection of universal values in the works of Alisher Navoi, was published in a prestigious conference collection. In addition, second-year student Kuvonchov Jakhongir actively participated in the Uzbekistan–China Business Forum held in Tashkent, showcasing the active engagement of the university’s youth in international cooperation processes. A scientific article by fourth-year student Javokhir Kudratov, devoted to the sources of international treaty law, was also published, analyzing the main sources of international law and their interrelationship. Our students are also achieving notable success in creative and international spheres. In the inter-university theatrical competition held under the slogan “Drug addiction is the ruin of life,” the “Diplomat” theater group of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy won an honorable first place, demonstrating high artistic skill, creativity, and a deep portrayal of a pressing social issue. Furthermore, the university’s Willem C. Vis Moot team successfully participated in the “6th IAC Vis Pre-Moot” international competition held on March 2–6, 2026, in Astana, securing a place among the top four teams in the Central Asia and Caucasus region. As a result, the team ranked among the leading teams in the region alongside MNU, AUCA, and Caspian universities, and was recognized as the strongest team in Uzbekistan. Moreover, students actively take part in environmental initiatives, contributing to environmental protection through plogging activities, and participate in training programs under UN initiatives, strengthening their knowledge in cybersecurity. Achievements have also been recorded in the creative field: poems in English by first-year student Rakhmonova Makhliyo were published in an international literary collection. These results demonstrate the comprehensive development of our students. We sincerely congratulate them on their achievements and wish them even greater success in the future!

    A Human Rights Master Class for Students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy

    On March 13 and on April 2, 2026, a master class was organized for third-year students of the Faculty of International Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy within the framework of the course “Human Rights.” The event was attended by Khusniddin Kholmamatov, Chief Specialist of the Analysis and Research Department on Human Rights, and Nodir Sultonov, Senior Specialist of the Department for the Implementation of International Treaties at the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the master class, the national and international mechanisms for the protection of human rights were examined in detail, including their interrelation and practical application. Particular attention was given to contemporary trends in human rights protection, ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, and their alignment with international standards. The session also addressed pressing issues in the field of human rights, including the effectiveness of protection mechanisms, challenges in institutional cooperation, and the importance of analytical and research work. The master class was conducted in an interactive format, with the specialists providing comprehensive answers to students’ questions, which further enhanced the practical relevance of the event. This master class contributed to strengthening students’ theoretical knowledge, developing their analytical thinking and practical skills, and broadening their understanding of current issues in the field of human rights.

    The First Meeting of the Notaries Club was held at the UWED

    On April 1, 2026, the first meeting of the Notaries Club, organized for law students particularly those of the Faculty of International Law was held at the UWED Legal Clinic. The event was organized by Nigina Muratovna Azizova, a lecturer of the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines, in cooperation with Candidate of Legal Sciences Ziyodulla Sagdullayevich Ubaydullayev and Zulfiya Enverovna Usmonova, Senior Consultant of the Tashkent City Territorial Department of the Notarial Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, in order to discuss the organizational and legal foundations of the Club’s activities, the Head of the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines, Nargiza Rashitovna Kadirova, was invited. Participants also reviewed the draft Regulation and Charter of the Notaries Club, as well as discussed a calendar plan for upcoming events. Particular attention was paid to developing proposals for the Club’s future activities. Participants emphasized the importance of holding regular master classes with practicing notaries aimed at developing students’ professional skills. In addition, the initiative to organize meetings with consuls performing notarial acts abroad was supported, which would allow students to become familiar with the specifics of notarial practice in an international context. Within the framework of the meeting, a representative of the Notarial Chamber also shared her professional experience and provided information on current trends in the development of the notarial field. Such events contribute to strengthening cooperation between the academic environment and the professional community, as well as enhancing the practical training of future lawyers. It is planned that the activities of the Notaries Club will be carried out systematically and will become an effective platform for students’ professional development.

    A meeting between a government official and youth was held on the topic “Challenges Facing Modern Youth”

    On April 2 of this year, as part of the traditional weekly “Youth Day” held every Thursday, a round table was organized at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event featured the participation of Sh. Shakirova, the Deputy Hokim of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district and Head of the Department for Family and Women's Affairs. The main objective of this event was to discuss the priority challenges facing young people today, to increase their socio-political engagement, and to raise awareness about the reforms being implemented in the educational, labor, and spiritual-enlightenment spheres. The Chairperson of the university's Women's Advisory Council and staff from the Youth Affairs Office also actively participated in the event. Speaking at the round table, Sh. Shakirova elaborated on the priority areas of state youth policy in our country, as well as the measures being taken to comprehensively support young people and protect their rights and interests. At the same time, she particularly emphasized the need for youth to master modern knowledge and skills, effectively use information technology, learn foreign languages, and develop the ability to think independently. During the event, students' opinions and suggestions were heard, and Sh. Shakirova provided comprehensive and well-reasoned answers to their questions. This fostered an atmosphere of open dialogue between the youth and the responsible official. At the conclusion of the round table, it was noted that a great responsibility is placed on young people today, and they need to set concrete goals for themselves while continually improving their knowledge and potential. It was also stressed that it is important for young people to make a worthy contribution to the development of society and to conduct their activities in a spirit of devotion to the Motherland. In conclusion, this event played an important role in broadening the horizons of young people, increasing their social activism, and strengthening their participation in the life of the state and society.
