    Interdisciplinary Student Contest “Lobbying Simulation: Advocating for Change” Successfully Held at UWED

    The English Language Department (IEM section) successfully organized the interdisciplinary student contest “Lobbying Simulation: Advocating for Change” in cooperation integrating ESP and Law classes. The contest was organized in accordance with the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On State Youth Policy” (Articles 5, 7, and 8) as well as within the framework of the national program “Five Important Initiatives” aimed at supporting youth development, intellectual growth, and social activity. The contest was aimed at developing students’ independent learning skills, interdisciplinary thinking, persuasive communication, analytical abilities, and teamwork through simulation-based learning integrating Business English and Law. The competition was conducted in two stages. During the first stage, students prepared independent project work, developed lobbying strategies, and performed simulations in class. In the final stage, shortlisted teams submitted edited video performances and reports, which were evaluated by the departmental assessment panel.The contest demonstrated students’ creativity, critical thinking, professional communication skills, and ability to apply legal and strategic reasoning to real-life social issues.  Winners of the Contest 1st Place – “Fair Life Standards Movement” (Javohir Jo’raboyev, Madina Suyutbekova,Madina Jumayeva, Izzatbek Abdulhamidov ,Azizxoʻja Sunnatov).To advocate for increasing the official minimum living cost  in order to better reflect current economic conditions. 2nd Place – “Academic Efficiency Initiative” (Mardonova Iroda, Saidmamurov Saidxorunxon, G’aybullayeva Feruza,Nabiyev Sarvarbek). Proposing the introduction of a standardized study material policy. Under this policy, instructors teaching the same subject would collaborate to create a single, unified set of study materials for the course.  2nd Place – “Digital Trust Alliance” (Jumayeva Shaxlo, Gulchehra Jamilova, Asatova Laziza, G‘ayratov Akbar). The “Cyber-Shield” Policy: Uzbekistan’s Digital Financial Safety Act aimed at implementing policies against financial losses caused by online fraud.  3rd Place – “VoiceUp”(Adxamov Muxammadaziz, Salihjanova Sitorabonu, Sherzod Raxmatov, Baxtiyorov Asadullo, Madaminova Gulzodaxon). Animal Rights and Animal Cruelty Laws: advocating for stronger enforcement and legal protection for animals. All winners were awarded certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance and active participation in the contest.The project served as an innovative example of interdisciplinary collaboration and simulation-based learning aimed at enhancing students’ independent learning efficiency and professional competencies.

    University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosts WICAR-2026 International Scientific and Practical Conference

    On 19 May 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference on “Innovative Approaches to Water Resource Management in Arid Regions in the Context of Climate Change” (WICAR-2026). The conference was organised by the Department of Systems Analysis and Mathematical Modelling of UWED. The event brought together scientists, experts and government representatives from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Poland and a number of other countries — both in person and online. The conference focused on the comprehensive study of challenges related to effective water resource management in arid regions under climate change. Participants addressed a wide range of issues: from the application of mathematical and computer modelling methods to the optimisation of irrigation systems and the automation of water distribution — to questions of water diplomacy in Central Asia and ecological changes in the Aral Sea region. Particular attention was paid to the exchange of cutting-edge research findings and practical experience, as well as to the prospects for expanding international scientific cooperation in the field. The plenary session featured presentations by representatives of leading scientific and educational institutions: the Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems of Uzbekistan, the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers”, Green University, the National Committee of Ecology and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. In the afternoon, three thematic sections ran in parallel, during which more than 20 scientific papers were presented. The themes of WICAR-2026 are directly aligned with the global priorities set out in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, the discussions covered the following SDGs: SDG 6 — Clean Water and Sanitation: innovative approaches to water resource management under drought and climate change conditions; SDG 13 — Climate Action: methods for modelling climate variability and adapting water management systems; SDG 15 — Life on Land: analysis of ecological and hydrogeological processes in the Aral Sea region; SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals: strengthening international scientific cooperation and advancing science diplomacy in the field of water resources. The conference outcomes underscored that WICAR-2026 served as an effective platform for the exchange of research findings and best practices, the strengthening of academic ties, and the advancement of interdisciplinary research. Participants highlighted the high scientific quality of the papers presented, their practical relevance, and their significance for addressing contemporary challenges in water management and environmental security. The conference reaffirmed the status of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy as an authoritative scientific and educational centre that actively develops international cooperation and shapes the research agenda in the fields of sustainable development, natural resource management, and the application of advanced mathematical modelling methods.

    UWED Students became Acquainted with The Activities of The Judicial System

    On May 19 of the current year, a practical training session was organized for first-year students of the Faculty of International Relations at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy at the Mirabad Interdistrict Civil Court. The visit was organized by the professors and instructors of the Department of Political Science. The event aimed to strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge through practical experience, familiarize them with the activities of the judicial and legal system, and enhance their legal awareness and culture. During the practical session, students became acquainted with the main areas of court activities, the procedures for organizing civil court proceedings, the powers and responsibilities of judges, as well as the reforms being implemented within the judicial and legal system. In addition, they received detailed information about court administration processes, the system for handling public appeals, and the introduction of modern information technologies into judicial activities. As part of the visit, an open dialogue was organized with the district court judges, during which students received comprehensive answers to their questions. The discussion also focused on enhancing legal awareness and legal culture among young people, the role of young professionals in ensuring the rule of law, and the interconnection between the fields of international relations and law. This practical training session helped students gain a broader understanding of the judicial and legal system and played an important role in developing the practical skills necessary for their future professional activities.

    A culinary competition was organized at UWED

    On May 16 of the current year, a cooking competition was organized among students at JIDU on the initiative of I. Narqulova, coordinator of the university’s “Cooking Club,” with the aim of promoting national and modern cuisine. The event served to develop students’ culinary culture, support creativity, and strengthen the spirit of teamwork and cooperation. Students from various faculties of the university actively participated in the competition and demonstrated their culinary skills. The participants competed in preparing national dishes, desserts, and modern foods. Each team was evaluated based on the taste of the dishes, presentation and decoration, соблюдение hygienic standards, and the quality of their presentation. During the event, Uzbek national dishes, various salads, and desserts were prepared and presented to the guests and the judging panel. In particular, the national dishes prepared by the students left a great impression on everyone. Throughout the competition, participants not only tested their skills but also gained new experience and knowledge. The event was attended by the Head of the Department for Family and Women’s Affairs of the Mirzo Ulugbek District Administration, as well as university professors and teachers as honored guests. According to the decision of the judging panel, the teams that prepared the best dishes were declared winners and awarded diplomas and commemorative gifts. The event was held in a festive atmosphere and left unforgettable impressions on the students. This cooking competition contributed to the meaningful organization of students’ free time, the promotion of national values, and the strengthening of friendship and solidarity among young people.

    Timurid Diplomacy Summit was held at UWED

    On May 16, 2026, the “Timurid Diplomacy Summit” was held at University of World Economy and Diplomacy. Organized under the title “The Samarkand Peace Treaty – 1404,” this historical diplomatic simulation project aimed to familiarize young people with the diplomacy of the Timurid era, traditions of statehood, and the legacy of international relations of that period. The summit was initiated by the university’s Youth Affairs Office in cooperation with the Diplomatic Synergy Club. More than 30 student delegates, along with representatives and experts in the fields of history and international relations, participated in the event. The primary objective of the project was to develop historical thinking, diplomatic culture, and negotiation skills among young people, while also fostering a deeper understanding of Uzbekistan’s rich diplomatic heritage within the context of contemporary international relations. During the simulation, participants represented states of the 14th–15th centuries and conducted negotiations on issues related to trade, road security, scientific exchange, diplomatic relations, and military cooperation. At the opening ceremony, the university’s First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual-Educational Work, Yusupdjanov Odil Abdugafurovich, emphasized that the project plays an important role in helping young people gain a deeper appreciation of their ancestral heritage and understand the great diplomatic traditions of Amir Temur’s era through a modern perspective. He also noted that such initiatives are essential in preparing future diplomats and specialists in international relations. As part of the summit, several distinguished scholars and experts delivered academic presentations. Among them was Professor Sanjar Gʻulomov, Doctor of Historical Sciences and leading researcher at the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who spoke about diplomacy and foreign relations during the Timurid era. In addition, Professor Abdumajid Madraimov, Candidate of Historical Sciences and leading researcher at the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, delivered a presentation on the traditions of diplomatic missions and the history of peace negotiations among 15th-century states. At the conclusion of the summit, the delegates adopted a final document entitled “The Samarkand Peace Treaty – 1404.” All participants were awarded certificates and commemorative gifts, while the most active delegates received special nominations and awards. The “Timurid Diplomacy Summit” is gaining significance in Uzbekistan as an innovative approach to the study of historical diplomacy and international relations. The project contributes to the development of leadership, diplomatic thinking, negotiation skills, and multilateral cooperation among young people. The summit was also recognized as an important educational and cultural initiative aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s rich historical heritage and great diplomatic traditions.

    UWED hosted a literary and educational event dedicated to the works of Erkin Vohidov and O‘tkir Hoshimov

    On May 15, 2026, within the framework of the implementation of the Resolution No. VMF-121 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 1, 2026, the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a literary and educational event dedicated to the works of the distinguished writers Erkin Vohidov and O‘tkir Hoshimov. The main purpose of the event was to widely promote the rich literary heritage of the two great authors, enhance reading culture among young people, and strengthen their respect and admiration for national literature. The event was opened with an introductory speech by Sayyora Qobiljonovna Tillaxodjayeva, Chief Specialist of the Youth Affairs Office. In her speech, she emphasized that the works of Erkin Vohidov and O‘tkir Hoshimov constitute a priceless treasure of Uzbek national literature, and that their writings play an important role in educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, humanism, devotion, and high moral values. Afterwards, Shoira Umarovna Narmatova, Associate Professor of the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages, delivered a presentation on the life and creative activity of the two outstanding writers. The report highlighted the artistic richness of Erkin Vohidov’s poetry and its profound reflection of the people’s spirit, as well as the skillful portrayal of the human soul, family values, and social life in the works of O‘tkir Hoshimov. During the event, university students performed theatrical scenes, artistic performances, monologues, and poetry recitations based on the works of Erkin Vohidov and O‘tkir Hoshimov. In particular, the vivid portrayal of literary characters by the students made a strong impression on the audience. At the end of the event, participants noted that such spiritual and educational gatherings play an important role in broadening young people’s worldview, encouraging reading habits, and fostering a deeper understanding of national values. Overall, the literary and educational event dedicated to the works of Erkin Vohidov and O‘tkir Hoshimov left warm impressions on all participants and further strengthened respect for literature and spirituality.

    A Master Class on “Philosophical Approach in Modern International Relations” was Organized at UWED

    On May 13 of this year, a master class on the topic “Philosophical Approach in Modern International Relations” was held for first-year students of the Faculty of International Relations at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The master class was organized by M. Abduraxmanova, a lecturer at the Department of Political Science. Professor Karimov Rahmat Rakhmonovich, Doctor of Philosophy and professor at the National University of Uzbekistan, was invited to conduct the master class. During the lecture, it was emphasized that in today’s era of globalization, international relations should be analyzed not only from political and economic perspectives, but also from a philosophical point of view. Particular attention was paid to the role of human values, peace, justice, intercultural dialogue, and ethical issues in international processes. The professor also focused on the ideas of representatives of Eastern and Western philosophy, as well as renowned philosophers. Using the views of ancient and modern thinkers on human consciousness, social development, the state, and justice, he analyzed the essence of contemporary international relations. Students were informed that philosophical ideas have contributed to the development of human thought throughout history and that this intellectual heritage continues to play an important role in understanding modern international political processes. Professor Karimov particularly emphasized that philosophy teaches individuals to think deeply, approach events from different perspectives, and draw independent conclusions. He noted that the scientific views of great philosophers have not lost their relevance today and continue to play a significant role in strengthening the ideas of peace, cooperation, and humanism in modern international relations. During the master class, students actively participated by asking questions and exchanging opinions on the topic. The event contributed to broadening the scientific outlook of young people and enhancing their analytical and logical thinking skills.
