UWED Rector holds meeting with the Ambassador of Belgium

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodiq Safayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Uzbekistan, Mathias Kende.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state of relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium, as well as the prospects for further developing inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The important role of parliaments in ensuring the timely and effective implementation of reached agreements was highlighted. Attention was also paid to expanding inter-parliamentary ties and intensifying contacts between cooperation groups and parliamentary committees.

During the meeting, special focus was placed on intensifying trade, economic, and investment cooperation. In particular, the importance of expanding the presence of Belgian companies in the Uzbek market and developing industrial cooperation involving technology transfer and specialist training was noted.

Issues regarding the further development of cooperation between the higher education institutions of the two countries were also discussed. Specifically, the prospects for establishing joint educational programs between universities in Uzbekistan and Belgium, developing faculty and student exchanges, and strengthening research cooperation were highlighted.
