    UWED hosted a conference on the topic “Let’s unite to end digital violence against women and girls!”

    On December 2 of this year, a large-scale conference titled “Let's Unite to Resist Digital Violence Against Women and Girls!” was held with the joint organizational participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Department for Family and Women's Affairs of Tashkent city, and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event took place within the framework of the campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”.

    The event gathered representatives from government bodies, law enforcement agencies, higher education institutions, social protection systems, teachers, experts, and students. Among the honored guests were the Deputy  Mayor of Tashkent, the head of the Main Directorate for Family and Women of Tashkent city, the Deputy Head of the Personnel and Educational Institutions Department of the MFA, representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Consular-Legal Department of the MFA, the Commissioner for Women’s Issues of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate, as well as representatives from the National Social Protection Agency and a professor from the National Research University.

    During the conference, issues of digital violence were discussed in detail, including cyberbullying, pressure, threats, dissemination of personal data, and psychological pressure via the internet. Participants emphasized the social danger of these phenomena and the importance of cooperation between government bodies, educational institutions, and society to prevent them.

    Measures were proposed to increase women's digital literacy, create a safe digital environment, provide psychological and legal assistance to victims, and improve rehabilitation processes. Experts agreed to continue exchanging experience and strengthening cooperation.

    The conference supported government policies on protecting women and girls, contributed to the formation of effective methods to combat violence in the digital space, and raised public awareness.
