On November 24, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a guest lecture dedicated to current issues of regional cooperation in Central Asia and the role of the Republic of Kazakhstan in these processes.

The speakers were Tokzhan Atayeva and Sholpan Shadayeva, doctoral candidates in Regional Studies at the Faculty of International Relations of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Notably, the Eurasian National University ranks 321st in the QS World University Rankings, underscoring the high academic caliber of the invited guests.

During their presentation, the doctoral candidates examined modern trends in cooperation among Central Asian states, highlighting the political and economic dynamics shaping the region. They emphasized Kazakhstan’s role in promoting integration processes and discussed the significance of major infrastructure projects, new diplomatic initiatives, and international organizations that contribute to strengthening intergovernmental ties. Special attention was given to the analysis of trade and economic trends, logistics routes, educational exchanges, and the growing interconnectedness of Central Asian countries.

An active discussion followed the lecture. Students and faculty members posed questions regarding the prospects of regional integration, the competitiveness of Central Asia amid geopolitical instability, and future opportunities for cooperation among the countries of the region. Participants noted the relevance of the topics addressed and the practical significance of the lecture for understanding ongoing regional developments.

For reference: In the 2025–2026 academic year, as part of the partnership between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, UWED hosted two young researchers to conduct fieldwork related to their dissertation projects.

Researchers Tokzhan Atayeva and Sholpan Shadaeva spent one month at the university, where they were provided with all the necessary conditions for data collection, academic exchange, and engagement with the faculty.

This initiative has become an important step in strengthening bilateral academic cooperation and enhancing scientific ties between the two universities.
