On August 27, 2025, a solemn meeting dedicated to the celebration of the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED).

The event was opened by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rector of UWED Sodyq Safoev. In his speech, he emphasized the historical significance of gaining independence and the country's large-scale achievements over the past period in all spheres of life. A special role in this progress, according to him, is played by education and science, which are the key drivers of the development of modern society.

    S. Safoev also summed up the results of the past academic year, highlighting the significant successes of the university in academic and scientific activities. He noted the growth in the publication activity of teachers in international ranking publications, an increase in the number of grants for scientific research, as well as the successful implementation of a number of innovative projects in partnership with leading foreign universities and experts.

Concluding his speech, the rector called on the teaching staff and all UWED staff to consolidate efforts to fulfill the main task - the training of highly qualified and competitive personnel who can make a worthy contribution to the prosperity and future of Uzbekistan.

The culmination of the event was the award ceremony. For high achievements in scientific activities, significant contribution to the educational process and conscientious work, a group of teachers and staff of the university was awarded certificates of honor and gratitude.

A short documentary film “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan and India – the Era of the Great Baburids” was also shown. The film showcased the deep historical and cultural ties between the two countries, highlighting Uzbekistan's role as a center of science, culture, and crossroads of civilizations.

The solemn atmosphere of the holiday once again reminded the audience of common values and the importance of the goals set for the further development of the university and the country.
