UWED Rector met with the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation

On July 29 of this year, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodiq Safoev held a meeting with the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova.
During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia were discussed, in particular, the exchange of experience in the field of human rights protection, the development of the rule of law and support for civil society institutions.
Sincerely welcoming the guest, Safoyev noted that in Uzbekistan, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, special attention is paid to ensuring human rights and in this regard, the role of the parliament and the institution of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) is increasing.
In turn, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation noted the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years to protect human rights, ensure social justice and increase the legal awareness of citizens. She expressed readiness to further develop cooperation between the two states in the field of human rights.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue practical cooperation on deepening ties in the field of human rights, within the framework of the institution of ombudsmen and inter-parliamentary relations.
