On November 5 of this year, a lecture “Globalization and Multilateralism” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy as part of the course “Contemporary International Affairs, World Economy and Uzbekistan Interests”.

The main speakers were Sabine Machl, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan and Jonas Astrup, Head of the Secretariat of the ISHONCH Foundation – Uzbekistan Vision 2030.

The speakers focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of multilateral cooperation in achieving them, discussed already implemented steps, monitoring mechanisms and examples of partnerships between the state, business, academia and NGOs. Jonas Astrup separately noted the scale and pace of changes in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the contribution of targeted initiatives, including the activities of the Ishonch Foundation.

At the end, a lively discussion took place: students asked questions about financing sustainable development, measuring results and the role of universities and youth in the 2030 Agenda. The lecturers answered all questions in detail and shared practical guidelines and international examples.
