UWED Professor Publishes Chapter on Chinese Negotiations in Prestigious International Publication

Professor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), Doctor of Political Sciences Alisher Fayzullaev became the author of the chapter “Tai Chi and Chinese Negotiation Behavior” in the new book “China's Negotiating Mindset and Strategies”, published by Routledge Publishing House (London - New York).
Professor Fayzullaeva's chapter reveals the connection between the philosophy of Tai Chi and China's modern negotiation tactics. As the author notes, this approach combines flexibility, strategic patience and the ability to exploit contradictions – key elements of Chinese diplomacy and business practices.
“Understanding the cultural roots of China's negotiation style is critical to successful engagement, whether in diplomacy or international business”, Faizullayev said.
The book, edited by Guy Olivier Faure and I. William Zartman, explores the historical and cultural foundations of the Chinese approach to negotiations. It analyses key concepts such as:
- Confucianism and Taoism,
- Yin-Yang principles,
- Chinese military strategy.
Practical examples include negotiations under the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as geopolitical discussions around the South China and East China Seas.
The final part of the book presents a synthesis of the studied material, which will contribute to the theory of negotiations and help Western practitioners planning negotiations with Chinese diplomats and businessmen. This publication will also be an important resource for policy analysts seeking to understand Chinese practices in international relations.
The book will be of interest to students studying international negotiations, foreign policy, business and international relations, as well as practitioners and politicians.
