UWED discussed prospects for cooperation with the British Ambassador

On March 26, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), a meeting was held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Timothy Smart.
During the conversation, it was noted that Uzbek-British cooperation in the field of education and science in recent years has demonstrated stable positive dynamics, acquiring a systemic character. The parties emphasized the importance of the consistent expansion of UWED partnerships with leading universities in the UK, as well as the formation of a stable legal framework for institutionalizing academic interaction and increasing its effectiveness.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation with the University of Glasgow, within the framework of which joint educational initiatives are being implemented, including the participation of UWED in an international consortium of universities. It is noted that such interaction formats contribute to the integration of the university into the international educational space, expand the academic mobility of students and teachers, and also create additional opportunities for obtaining double diplomas and exchanging experience.
Ambassador Timothy Smart highly appreciated the large-scale reforms in the field of education and science being carried out in Uzbekistan, noting their focus on modernizing the personnel training system and adapting to international standards.
During the meeting, prospects for expanding cooperation with British educational and research institutions were discussed in detail. The parties noted the importance of intensifying interaction with the British Council, as well as deepening partnerships with leading universities in the UK, including Oxford and Cambridge, with an emphasis on joint educational programs, scientific projects and the exchange of academic resources. Particular attention was paid to the development of new joint educational areas, including programs in the field of international law, international security and development studies. The expediency of expanding academic mobility, inviting foreign professors to give lectures and modules, as well as organizing internships and practice-oriented programs for students and teachers was emphasized.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further deepening bilateral cooperation, expanding the range of joint educational and scientific projects, as well as strengthening institutional ties between UWED and British partners. They expressed readiness to continue an active dialogue and implement specific initiatives aimed at developing a long-term strategic partnership.
