On May 19–20, 2025, a nationwide scientific seminar-training on the theme “Women’s Rights and Safety: Modern Threats and Solutions” was held at Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhon Beruni.
The event was aimed at strengthening the legal and social protection of women, ensuring their safety in the face of modern challenges, and fostering experience exchange among higher education institutions across the country.
The seminar-training brought together representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Republican Committee on Women and Family Affairs, the Committee for Religious Affairs, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (in particular, those responsible for crime prevention), as well as chairwomen of women's advisory councils of all universities in the country, leading female scholars, and field experts.
Professor Etibor Sultonova, Chairwoman of the Women's Advisory Council of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), also actively participated in this prestigious event. In her speech, she addressed the role of educational institutions in protecting women's rights, the current state of gender equality policy, as well as pressing issues and proposed solutions in this field.
As part of the event, a number of chairwomen of women's advisory councils at higher education institutions were recognized for their long-standing commitment and outstanding contributions. E.Sultonova from UWED received a certificate and commemorative gifts.
On the second day of the seminar, all participants were taken on an excursion to the ancient city of Khiva. During the visit, they had the opportunity to closely explore the rich historical heritage, culture, and values of the Uzbek people.
This seminar-training not only served as a platform for discussing critical issues but also marked an important step toward inter-university cooperation and the promotion of best practices for the protection of women’s rights at the national level.
