On April 17, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held an international scientific-practical conference titled “Main Directions and Prospects for Transitioning to a 'Green Economy' in Central Asia for Sustainable Development: Political Aspects.” The event brought together experts, scholars, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and government bodies, creating a unique platform for discussing pressing issues of sustainable development in the region.

The opening ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Gulnoza Ismailova, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, who emphasized the importance of the topic and the need for joint efforts to achieve sustainable development. The welcome address was also delivered by Acting Head of the Department of International Relations Ildar Yakubov and Chairperson of the Council of Young Scientists Madina Abdullaeva.

The conference was divided into two main sessions. The first session focused on the state and prospects of developing a "green economy" in Central Asia. Participants discussed various aspects, including legal frameworks, environmental risks, and the role of transboundary water resources.

The second session highlighted international cooperation in the field of "green economy." Participants examined issues related to alternative energy sources, global environmental governance, and climate change.

Following the sessions, a lively discussion took place where participants exchanged views and suggestions for further developing the "green economy" in the region. As a result of the discussions, recommendations were formulated for non-governmental organizations, government bodies, and academic institutions.

The conference proved to be a significant event for addressing the transition to a "green economy" in Central Asia. Participants from Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan expressed hope for continued cooperation and the implementation of proposed initiatives, which will contribute to achieving sustainable development in the region.
