On April 17, 2025, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted an international scientific and practical conference "Main Directions and Prospects for the Transition to a "Green Economy" in Central Asia for Sustainable Development: Political Aspects". The event brought together leading experts, academics, representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations (NGOs) and government agencies from the countries of the region, becoming an effective platform for intersectoral dialogue on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The opening ceremony began with a speech by UWED Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation G. Ismailova, who emphasized the critical importance of developing sustainable cross-border solutions for the region. Acting Head of the Department of International Relations I. Yakubov and Chairperson of the Council of Young Scientists M. Abdullaeva drew attention to the role of the scientific community in shaping the environmental agenda. The conference included two thematic sessions. The first was devoted to the analysis of the current state and prospects of the "green economy" in the countries of Central Asia. During the discussions, the participants highlighted the legal and institutional framework, potential environmental risks, and the special role of transboundary water resources in the context of sustainable development.

In the second session, the focus shifted to international cooperation. Participants from Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan considered the prospects for using alternative energy, global environmental governance instruments and ways to adapt to climate change.

One of the key outcomes of the conference was a lively expert discussion, during which the participants exchanged experiences, presented research initiatives and formulated practical recommendations. They are addressed to both national governments and non-governmental organizations, including proposals for joint policy development, monitoring of environmental programs and enhancing intersectoral cooperation.

The conference organized by UWED became a vivid example of interaction between the academic community, government bodies and NGOs within the framework of the "Partnership for Sustainable Development". It was attended by activist V. Ushakov (Kyrgyzstan), deputy director of the joint venture "Minaret Renovables JV LLC" H. Khidoyatova (Uzbekistan), representative of the NGO "Siberian Society for International Studies" A. Kotik (Russia), member of the eco-party J. Abdurasulov, as well as researchers and scientists of UWED and other specialized universities of Uzbekistan. The event confirmed the region's readiness to consolidate efforts and exchange best practices to create a sustainable future.

The participants expressed hope for the institutionalization of dialogue and the organization of regular meetings at the national and regional levels, which will ensure long-term cooperation in the field of green transformation of Central Asia.
