In December 20, 2024, faculty and students from the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) implemented a targeted and socially impactful outreach programme at the Republican Children's Psychoneurological Hospital named after U.K. Kurbanov in Tashkent. This initiative formed part of UWED’s ongoing commitment to promoting the mental and emotional well-being of children with neurological and psychological conditions, good health and well-being.

The programme combined educational and support components. UWED students and faculty conducted interactive, age-appropriate sessions aimed at developing communication and social skills, providing crucial cognitive stimulation integral to therapy and mental development. Simultaneously, these sessions offered structured psycho-social support designed to combat social isolation and build emotional resilience, which are key factors in improving long-term health outcomes for affected children.

During the visit, UWED representatives engaged the children in warm festive activities and presented gifts, creating an atmosphere of joy, hope, and confidence. This approach helped reduce feelings of isolation among young patients, fostered their social integration, and contributed significantly to their psychological well-being and quality of life.

The initiative further strengthened UWED’s partnerships with healthcare institutions and demonstrated a systemic, sustainable approach to community health promotion, awareness-raising of mental health issues, and the cultivation of humanitarian values. It exemplifies how universities can be active agents of social change, improving lives and advancing a more compassionate and equitable society through ongoing collaboration and practical engagement in public health.
