UWED Students Meet with American Experts

As part of an educational study tour by a delegation of American experts, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a meeting with students to discuss the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan–U.S. relations, as well as pressing issues in regional and international politics.
The event featured Andrew Kuchins, Senior Fellow at CFTNI and Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University; Marsha Olive, member of the Advisory Board of the Caspian Policy Center; and Paul Saunders, President and CEO of the Center for the National Interest.
During the meeting, the experts highlighted the positive dynamics of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States. Particular attention was paid to the foreign policy initiatives of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and enhancing Central Asia’s role on the international stage.
Participants discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation, including the development of parliamentary diplomacy, investment partnerships, joint projects in the field of critical minerals, as well as educational cooperation and academic exchanges.
Special attention was also given to the further development of the C5+1 format, the outcomes of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Uzbekistan, and the potential impact of the upcoming U.S. congressional midterm elections on Washington’s foreign policy priorities.
The meeting was held in an open dialogue format, providing students with an opportunity to exchange views with American experts and deepen their understanding of contemporary international developments and the prospects for Uzbekistan–U.S. cooperation.
