UWED hosted a master class on the “Legal Regulation of Banking”

On October 31, 2026, a master class was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy as part of the "Financial and Tax Law" discipline. The topic of the session was "Legal Regulation of Banking Activity." The event was organized under the supervision of N.B. Uzakbaeva, lecturer at the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines. The keynote speaker of the master class was Jalol Kahramonovich Imamov, Senior Legal Counsel of the General Legal Support Department of JSCMB "Ipoteka-bank."
During the master class, participants examined the activities of banks, the legislation governing banking activity, and the legal foundations of banking secrecy. Students were introduced to the legal mechanisms applied in the banking system and to the procedures for protecting the rights of bank customers.
Particular attention was paid to current cases of financial fraud. Using practical examples, the speaker explained how a bank acts when funds are stolen from a bank card or when a loan is issued in a citizen's name without their consent, as well as how banks cooperate with state authorities.
Participants were provided with a unique opportunity to ask a practitioner the questions that interested them, discuss current challenges in banking practice, and explore modern approaches to combating financial fraud.
The event was aimed at enhancing the professional training of future legal practitioners and developing students' knowledge and skills in the fields of financial law and financial security.
Furthermore, the master class directly contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular: ensuring quality education (SDG 4) through the development of modern knowledge and practical competencies in banking law; expanding access to financial services (SDG 8) by improving financial literacy and teaching the safe use of banking services; strengthening peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16) by countering financial fraud and reinforcing cooperation between banks and state authorities; and developing partnerships between higher education and the banking sector (SDG 17).
As a result, the event holds significant importance for improving public financial literacy, advancing the protection of the rights of banking service consumers, and strengthening the link between education and banking practice.
