On October 16, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted a guest lecture by Stephen Barnes, representing Penn State Dickinson Law, part of Pennsylvania State University (USA).

The lecture focused on the principle of separation of powers under the U.S. Constitution, the distribution of powers among the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions concerning the expansion of presidential powers. The discussion provided students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the fundamental principles and legal mechanisms underpinning the U.S. constitutional system.

The session also introduced students to master’s degree opportunities, admission requirements, and scholarship programmes at Penn State Dickinson Law. Nearly 20 UWED alumni have studied and graduated from this institution, highlighting the practical value of academic ties between the two institutions.

The lecture offered students a valuable opportunity to learn directly about the U.S. legal system, gain insights into international academic experience, and explore opportunities for postgraduate study in the United States. Such initiatives contribute to the development of students’ academic and professional potential while further strengthening UWED’s international academic partnerships.
