UWED Rector Meets with the Speaker of Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament

An Uzbek parliamentary delegation led by Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, met with Marlen Mamataliyev, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The discussions focused on strengthening political dialogue between the two countries, expanding interparliamentary ties, and advancing trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Both sides stressed that relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are rooted in longstanding friendship, shared values and mutual trust. They noted that high-level dialogue has intensified in recent years, bringing cooperation to a new stage. In particular, they highlighted the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations at the conclusion of the President of Uzbekistan’s state visit to Kyrgyzstan on 30 July 2026 as an important step towards strengthening the strategic foundations of bilateral relations.
The participants exchanged views on prospects for developing cross-border trade zones, implementing joint investment projects and expanding cooperation in transport and energy. They also highlighted the role of the first Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan Tourism Forum, held in Samarkand, in strengthening tourism ties and promoting interregional cooperation.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to improve the work of the cooperation commission between the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, hold its meetings in the regions and further strengthen interparliamentary dialogue.
