A Significant Event at the UWED Legal Clinic: Future International Lawyers Take a Solemn Oath Before Receiving Citizens

On September 26 of this year, a highly significant event took place at the Legal Clinic of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. A formal oath-taking ceremony was held for third-year students of the International Law Faculty—who had successfully completed specialized practical training—marking the commencement of their direct engagement in receiving and assisting the public.

This event represented a major milestone in the professional journey of these future lawyers, aimed at reinforcing their commitment to the principles of legal ethics, integrity, fairness, and the rule of law.

The event opened with remarks from S. Murataev, Dean of the International Law Faculty, and Z.S. Ubaydullaev, Head of the UWED Legal Clinic.

During the opening ceremony, the leadership emphasized the Legal Clinic's vital role in developing students' practical skills and professional competence. Addressing the future lawyers, they highlighted that a lawyer’s sacred duty is to treat every citizen seeking assistance with professionalism, impartiality, and humanity, while upholding the rule of law and protecting individual interests.

The event was also attended by A. Nasimjonov - Course Coordinator for the International Law Faculty, senior students, and other young people interested in the clinic's work; they shared practical recommendations and offered their best wishes to the young professionals. In the most impressive and central part of the ceremony, third-year students from the Faculty of International Law solemnly pledged to honor the trust placed in them, to steadfastly defend the rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests of citizens, to maintain professional confidentiality, and to strictly adhere to the norms of legal ethics.

Taking this oath enables students not only to put their theoretical knowledge into practice but also to develop a profound sense of professional responsibility while providing free, high-quality legal assistance (pro bono) to vulnerable segments of the population.
