UWED Postdoctoral Teaching & Research Fellowship Program

The UWED Postdoctoral Teaching & Research Fellowship Program is an academic fellowship designed to attract outstanding PhD graduates (postdoctoral researchers) to contribute to teaching, research, and academic development at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
This program is designed to enhance academic excellence, research productivity, and international collaboration at UWED by engaging outstanding postdoctoral researchers in teaching, research, and institutional development activities. The Fellowship provides a unique opportunity for emerging scholars to contribute to a dynamic academic environment while advancing their academic and professional careers.
Fellowship Objectives
The primary objectives of the Fellowship Program are to:
· Strengthen UWED’s teaching and research capacity;
· Promote international academic cooperation and exchange;
· Support the professional development of early-career researchers;
· Foster high-quality academic research, policy analysis, and publication output;
· Contribute to the university’s institutional development and curriculum modernization.
Fellowship Duration
· 10 months. September to June (full-time, on-site participation at UWED, Tashkent, Uzbekistan)
Fields of Specialization
Applications are invited in the following academic disciplines:
1. International Law
2. International Relations
3. International Economics and Management
Fellowship Benefits and Financial Support
Each selected Fellow will be provided with a comprehensive financial and institutional support package, including:
· Monthly stipend: USD 1,500
· Accommodation: Campus housing will be provided
· International airfare: Round-trip economy-class airfare to and from Tashkent
· Medical insurance: Health insurance coverage for the duration of the Fellowship
· Certification: Official UWED Fellowship Certificate upon successful completion of the program
Note: If the fellow successfully completes the fellowship, UWED may offer an extension of the fellowship period for an additional one year.
Fellowship Responsibilities
Fellows are expected to actively engage in academic, teaching, and research activities, contributing meaningfully to the university’s academic mission.
1. Teaching and Academic Support
· Provide teaching assistance for undergraduate and graduate-level courses
· Support faculty members in: lecture preparation, seminar and workshop facilitation and curriculum development
· Participate in academic mentoring and student support activities
2. Academic Projects and Research
· Participate in ongoing and newly initiated academic research projects
· Conduct independent and collaborative research in relevant fields
· Engage in policy-oriented research and analytical studies
· Contribute to academic writing, working papers, and peer-reviewed publications
· Support the organization of academic conferences, seminars, and workshops
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
· Hold a PhD degree from a higher education institution ranked within the world’s top 500 or be currently affiliated with a higher education institution ranked within the world’s top 500.
· Specialize in International Law, International Relations, or International Economics and Management
· Demonstrate strong academic and research achievements, evidenced by publications, conference presentations, or funded projects
· Possess advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken)
· Show strong motivation for teaching, academic research, and institutional service
· Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment

1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
2. Motivation Letter (maximum 1,000 words)
3. PhD Diploma and Academic Transcript
4. One Recommendation Letter
5. List of publications
6. Research Statement (2–3 pages), outlining research interests, proposed projects, and expected academic contributions during the Fellowship
Selection Procedure
The selection process consists of the following stages:
1. Preliminary document screening
2. Online interview with shortlisted candidates
3. Final selection by the UWED Fellowship Selection Committee
Fellowship Outcomes and Reporting
Upon completion of the Fellowship, Fellows are required to submit:
· A Teaching Contribution Report, summarizing academic and instructional activities
· A Research and Academic Project Report, detailing research outputs, publications, and project outcomes
