UWED Rector Meets with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Special Representative for Central Asia

The First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Sodyq Safoev, met with Lars Thygesen, Special Representative for Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Denmark. They agreed to intensify relations between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Danish Folketing (Parliament), as well as to continue regular exchanges of visits and dialogue.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on bilateral political, trade, economic, and investment cooperation. In particular, they emphasized the importance of increasing bilateral trade, attracting Danish companies to projects in Uzbekistan, and implementing joint initiatives in the fields of energy, municipal infrastructure, water management, agriculture, and vocational education.

In addition, the meeting focused on strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia, mitigating the effects of climate change, and expanding opportunities for young people.
