Faculty members of the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organised a series of educational events dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals at the Alisherobod Mahalla Citizens’ Assembly in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent.

On 19 May 2026, faculty members R. Yusupaliyeva, Z. Israilova and D. Soliyev and A. Abdujalilov organised another meeting on the topic “The Mahalla Institution and the Sustainable Development Goals in New Uzbekistan: Inclusive Development and Social Partnership.”

The events brought together the chairperson of the mahalla, assistants to the district governor, social workers, youth leaders, women’s activists, prevention inspectors, community activists and young people. The roundtable discussions focused on the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the community level, strengthening cooperation between public authorities and civil society institutions, and improving the legal awareness of the population.

During the discussions, the participants considered practical mechanisms for integrating the following goals into the activities of the mahalla: No Poverty — SDG 1, Quality Education — SDG 4, Gender Equality — SDG 5, Decent Work and Economic Growth — SDG 8, Sustainable Cities and Communities — SDG 11, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — SDG 16.

At the conclusion of the events, it was emphasised that the role of the mahalla institution in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is steadily increasing. The importance of cooperation between public authorities, civil society representatives and local residents in implementing these goals at the local level was also highlighted.
