From 16 to 18 June this year, the fifth anniversary Tashkent International Investment Forum was held in Tashkent under the theme “Investment Resilience: New Horizons, New Partnerships.” The prestigious event, organised by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, brought together 10,409 participants from 102 countries.

As a result of the forum, 177 agreements worth a total of USD 43.1 billion were signed in such strategic areas as energy, transport, the green economy, industry and other sectors. This figure marked a record in the history of the forum and once again demonstrated Uzbekistan’s growing international investment appeal.

During the forum, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held bilateral meetings with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, as well as the heads of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the New Development Bank. At the plenary session, the President described investment as an essential foundation for technology, knowledge and development and outlined six priority areas of the country’s investment policy.

Students of the Faculty of International Economics and Management at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy also took an active part in the international forum. Odil Pulatov, Jamshid Abdulazizov, Nazarbek Gaziyev and other students accompanied representatives of such global companies as BlackRock, JPMorgan Chase and Frankfurt Finance, providing interpretation and organisational support while demonstrating their professional knowledge and skills.

Participation in this high-level international forum enabled the students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, gain first-hand experience of the international business environment and further develop their professional communication, interpretation and protocol skills. The agreements reached during the forum are expected to contribute to the introduction of modern technologies into Uzbekistan’s economy, the creation of new jobs and the further strengthening of the country’s international standing.
