Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, met with a delegation led by Kim Gyo-heon, Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Sports and Tourism of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and head of the "Korea-Uzbekistan" inter-parliamentary cooperation group.

During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening relations between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Korea, as well as developing interaction between parliamentary committees and inter-parliamentary cooperation groups.

In recent years, the active political dialogue between the heads of state has given new impetus to interstate relations. In this context, parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in implementing the agreements reached and promoting new initiatives.

As was noted during the conversation, the Republic of Korea is a reliable friend and a time-tested, close partner of Uzbekistan.

Kim Gyo-heon noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea has deep historical roots, emphasizing that these relations are based on the ancient traditions of the Great Silk Road. He highlighted that today, the economic, digital, and cultural ties between the two countries are consistently developing within the framework of the New Silk Road concept, particularly the "Innovative Silk Road" strategy.

Special attention was also given to the prospects for further expanding bilateral cooperation in education, implementing joint educational programs, academic exchanges, scientific research, and innovative projects between higher education institutions in Uzbekistan and leading universities in the Republic of Korea.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sentiment was expressed that trade and economic ties, along with cooperation in investment, innovation, education, healthcare, culture, and tourism, are important pillars of the special strategic partnership between the two countries.
