UWED Hosts Meeting with Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Park Jin

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a meeting between Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED, and Park Jin, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science, and innovation, with particular attention paid to establishing partnership ties between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology — KAIST.
It was noted that the Republic of Korea is one of Uzbekistan’s important partners in the areas of education, digital transformation, training highly qualified specialists, and introducing modern academic programs. In this regard, cooperation with KAIST, one of the leading scientific and educational centers of the Republic of Korea, is of particular interest to UWED.
The parties considered opportunities for implementing joint educational and research projects, academic exchange programs, lectures, seminars, and professional development programs, as well as expanding cooperation in digital technologies, artificial intelligence, international relations, and innovative development.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation and developing practical mechanisms of partnership between UWED and educational institutions of the Republic of Korea. It was particularly emphasized that such initiatives contribute to expanding the university’s international academic ties and training a new generation of competitive specialists.
It should be noted that KAIST is one of the leading research universities in the Republic of Korea, specializing in science, technology, engineering, and innovation. In the QS World University Rankings 2025, the university was ranked 53rd in the world, confirming its high international academic standing.
