Master class on the law of damages for breach of contract

On 6 May 2026 a master class was conducted by the prominent expert Djakhongir Saidov – a professor of Commercial Law at King's College London for the postgraduate students of “International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution” program of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
Professor Saidov explained the notion of damages, the issues of recovery of damages to reputation and loss of chance. He also outlined approaches in recovery of legal costs, methods of limiting damages including foreseeability and mitigation with reference to the Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts.
The students showed a great interest in the discussed topics, asked questions regarding the practical aspects of the law of damages and received detailed answers from the speaker. The master class was organized by the Chair of the Civil Law and International Private Law Department Sherzodbek Masadikov and attended by teaching staff Dilfuza Imamova, Rushana Sa’dullayeva and Alisher Bobonazarov.
The master class made a significant contribution to the development of academic dialogue, the strengthening of the connection between theory and practice, and the improvement of education process, and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals,” particularly Target 17.6, which calls for the development of international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation and the expansion of access to them.
