On May 11 of this year, an awareness-raising event dedicated to the essence and significance of Presidential Decree No. 33 of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “On Additional Organizational and Legal Measures to Strengthen the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children and Prevent Harassment and Violence Against Them,” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

The event was organized under the leadership of Professor E. Sultanova, Chairperson of the UWED Women’s Advisory Council. It was attended by Sh. Shakirova, Deputy Hokim of Mirzo Ulugbek District and Head of the Department for Family and Women’s Affairs, senior inspectors of the Internal Affairs Department of Mirzo Ulugbek District, as well as the coordinator of the Faculty of International Relations.

Opening the event, Professor E. Sultanova emphasized that protecting the rights of women and children, ensuring their interests, and creating a healthy social and moral environment within families are among the priority directions of state policy. She also introduced the invited guests and specialists to the students.

During the event, Deputy Hokim Sh. Shakirova provided students with detailed information about the content and significance of the Presidential Decree, the priority tasks outlined in the document, and the reforms being implemented to protect women and children from all forms of violence and harassment. In her speech, she particularly focused on increasing women’s social activity, strengthening their legal awareness, and fostering a healthy family environment.

In addition, F. Jumaniyazova explained to the students the recent updates in current legislation, procedures for обращения in cases of harassment and violence, mechanisms for issuing protection orders, as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizens.

During the event, students received comprehensive answers from specialists to their questions. The meeting, held in an open dialogue format, played an important role in increasing young people’s legal awareness, fostering intolerance toward violence, and widely promoting the principles of gender equality.
