On May 6 of this year, at the initiative of Associate Professor Z.S. Israilova, senior lecturers A.A. Abdujalilov and D.B. Soliyev of the Department of International and Public Law, as well as course coordinator A.A. Nasimjonov of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, an off-site practical lesson was organized at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for first-year students of the Faculty of International Law.

The practical session, dedicated to the topic “The Role and Practical Significance of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in the System of Separation of Powers in the Republic of Uzbekistan,” aimed to integrate students’ constitutional and legal knowledge with practical parliamentary processes and to enhance the professional competencies of future legal specialists.

During the session, students became acquainted with the principle of separation of powers in Uzbekistan, the organizational and legal foundations of parliamentary activity, and the practical mechanisms of the legislative process. In particular, they received detailed information on drafting bills, preliminary discussions in committees, the activities of parliamentary factions, and the procedures for reviewing and adopting laws during plenary sessions.

During an interactive dialogue with officials and specialists of the Legislative Chamber, students also received comprehensive answers to their questions regarding the current stage of constitutional reforms in the country, parliamentary diplomacy, international inter-parliamentary cooperation, and the role of Uzbekistan’s parliament in the international legal arena.

This initiative is also significant within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, the practical lesson contributed to SDG 4 - “Quality Education” by ensuring the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge, and to SDG 16 - “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” by fostering democratic values, parliamentary culture, respect for the rule of law, and constitutional institutions among young people.

Furthermore, the cooperation supports SDG 17 - “Partnerships for the Goals” by strengthening institutional collaboration between higher education institutions and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, as well as promoting the integration of education and public administration practices.
