On April 24, Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, met with Timothy Smart, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Uzbekistan.

During the talks, the current state and prospects of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom were discussed in detail.

Particular attention was paid to further intensifying political dialogue, expanding trade and economic cooperation, deepening ties in education and science, and developing cultural, humanitarian, and inter-parliamentary engagement.

The meeting also featured an exchange of views on pressing issues on the regional and international agenda. The parties noted that formats such as the "Central Asia – United Kingdom" dialogue serve as an effective platform for aligning positions on important international and regional matters.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized their readiness to further strengthen Uzbek-British relations, to fill bilateral cooperation with concrete, practical substance, and to consistently develop inter-parliamentary dialogue.
