A master class on the rights of persons with disabilities was organized at UWED

April 23, 2026, the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines of the Faculty of International Law at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized a master class for third-year students of the Faculty of International Economic Relations within the framework of the academic course “Human Rights”. The master class was held on the topic “Rights of Persons with Disabilities: International Standards and National Practice”.
Abdullo Abduhamitovich Abduxalilov, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Work at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Doctor of Sociological Sciences (DSc), Deputy Chairman of the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Uzbekistan for Strategic Planning, and international expert on disability issues, participated in the event as a guest speaker.
During the master class, the main provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities were thoroughly discussed, including the principles of non-discrimination, equal opportunities, accessibility, and inclusion. Special attention was also paid to ensuring reasonable accommodation, creating an accessible and barrier-free environment, and developing effective mechanisms for protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. The speaker provided a comprehensive analysis of modern approaches in this field from legal, social, and institutional perspectives, emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities.
In the practical part of the event, case studies related to violations of the rights of persons with disabilities were analyzed, and mechanisms for their protection, including national institutions and international procedures, were discussed. Students actively participated in the discussions and showed great interest in deepening their knowledge in the field of human rights. At the end of the event, participants emphasized the practical importance of the knowledge gained for their future professional activities.
