A masterclass on international settlements and credit relations held at UWED

On April 16 of this year, a masterclass dedicated to one of the key areas of private international law - “International Settlements and Credit Relations” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event was organized at the initiative of Sherzodbek Masadikov, Head of the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law, and Qobiljon Nosirov, a lecturer of the department. It aimed to enrich students’ theoretical knowledge with real legal cases and to analyze current trends in this field.
The masterclass featured a lecture by industry expert Bekhruz Qurbonov, a specialist of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade. Alongside faculty members of the Faculty of International Law, third-year students actively participated in the session, engaging in discussions on the legal nuances and practical aspects of the topic.
During the session, key forms of international lending including syndicated loans, export-import financing, and leasing mechanisms were discussed, with particular attention to their legal frameworks and practical application. This academic and practical dialogue aligned with the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 - “Partnerships for the Goals”. It was also emphasized that a well-established legal framework for international settlements and credit relations plays a crucial role in improving the investment climate and ensuring economic stability in the country.
At the conclusion of the event, participants highlighted the close interconnection between the integration of international settlement systems and the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 16, which focuses on building effective, accountable, and transparent institutions. Such masterclasses contribute significantly to enhancing future international lawyers’ competencies in financial law, as well as strengthening the integration of theory and practice.
