UWED Celebrates Arab Spring Festival “Sham en-Nessim”

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a cultural and educational event dedicated to the traditional Arab spring festival, “Sham en-Nessim” (شم النسيم). The event was organized by the Department of Oriental Languages.
The purpose of the event was to introduce students to the rich cultural and historical heritage of Arab countries, their unique customs, and their national values.
During the program, students from the department presented reports on the origins of the festival, which dates back to Ancient Egypt and symbolizes the beginning of the spring equinox and the awakening of nature. Special attention was given to how "Sham en-Nessim" unites people, helping to foster an atmosphere of peace and good neighborliness.
“Such events allow our students to immerse themselves more deeply in the cultural environment of the region they are studying, which is an integral part of training specialists in international relations and diplomacy”, noted the organizers.
The event concluded with a festive program that demonstrated the youth's keen interest in Eastern languages and intercultural dialogue.
