An international masterclass on nuclear law was held at UWED

On March 17 of this year, an international masterclass titled “Introduction to Nuclear Law” was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The event focused on current international legal issues related to the regulation of nuclear energy use, as well as ensuring global nuclear safety.
The event was organized by Timur Ibadullayev, a lecturer at the Department of International Law and Public Law Disciplines, with the participation of leading international experts in the field of nuclear law.
As part of the event, presentations were delivered by Abbosbek Adilov, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Austria and the Permanent Mission to international organizations in Vienna, and Kristel Drillat, Legal Advisor at the Nuclear and Treaty Law Section of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Head of the Legislative Assistance Programme.
During the interactive masterclass, key aspects of international nuclear law were discussed, including nuclear safety, physical protection of nuclear materials, safeguards for nuclear non-proliferation, and issues of international legal liability for nuclear damage. Particular attention was given to the main international treaties shaping the modern nuclear law system, including the Convention on Nuclear Safety and the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident.
The event attracted great interest among faculty members and students. Participants had the opportunity to discuss current trends in the development of international nuclear law and to ask questions to the invited experts.
