On March 4 of this year, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted an international scientific and practical roundtable discussion titled “Uzbekistan and the United Nations: 34 Years of Cooperation Experience and Prospects.” The event was organized by the Department of International Law and Public Law and brought together representatives of the UN system, members of the academic community, professors and teachers, researchers, and representatives of relevant government agencies.

The main purpose of the roundtable was to provide a scientific analysis of the stages of development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations, its current priority areas, and prospects for future development. During the discussions, it was noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN today covers important areas such as strengthening peace and security, implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, protecting human rights, combating climate change, and supporting the Aral Sea region.

It was also emphasized that initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, from the UN rostrum have received broad support from the international community, resulting in the adoption of several resolutions. The importance of joint projects with United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the fields of education, healthcare, and youth development was also highlighted.

At the end of the event, participants emphasized that the scientific dialogue would contribute to further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations, noting the importance of expanding joint research, analytical initiatives, and educational projects in the future. The roundtable was held in an open and constructive spirit and served as an important platform for new cooperation initiatives.
