On 11 November of the this year, a master class lecture on “Internationalization Strategies in Higher Education” was conducted for PhD students, professors, teachers, and administrative staff of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy by Mr. Tobias A. Stüdemann, Director of the Liaison Office Eastern Europe at Freie Universität Berlin.

The primary purpose of this session was to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of institutional internationalization, the importance of clearly defined goals, and the need to identify and develop the internal potential of an academic institution in order to strengthen global engagement.

During his lecture, Mr. Stüdemann shared insights drawn from many years of cooperation between Freie Universität Berlin and its partners across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He discussed strategic approaches to selecting reliable international partners, criteria for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation, and practical steps required to expand collaborative activities.

The master class also addressed the role of international offices in shaping global strategies, the development of joint educational programs, the initiation of research projects, and the importance of adapting these processes to current trends and future developments within the international academic landscape.

The event included practical examples illustrating best practices in partner selection, case studies from long-term institutional collaborations, and discussions on the challenges and opportunities faced by universities in an increasingly interconnected world.

At the end of the session, participants engaged in an open dialogue with Mr. Stüdemann, raising topical questions related to international cooperation, institutional strategy design, and future partnership prospects. The speaker provided detailed and insightful responses, highlighting the essential components of sustainable internationalization.
