Faculty Development Session on Environmental Sustainability and Sustainable Resource Management

As part of the university’s broader staff development efforts on environmental aspects of sustainability, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy organized an online academic session for faculty members on 31 October 2025 in cooperation with Professor Silvana Stefani of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Italy).
The session brought together academic staff from the Departments of Systems Analysis and Mathematical Modeling and World Economy, whose teaching and research activities engage with sustainable development, environmental modelling, and resource efficiency. The discussion was aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and related sustainability-oriented academic and research priorities.
As part of the session, Professor Aybek Seytov delivered a presentation on mathematical models for optimal water resource management in main canals, focusing on the rational use of water resources, climate-related challenges, and applied modelling approaches relevant to sustainable environmental management. Participants also discussed energy modelling, climate-related research, and opportunities for further academic cooperation in areas linked to environmental sustainability.
The session formed part of the university’s continuing faculty engagement and professional exchange on sustainability-related themes, contributing to the strengthening of academic capacity in environmental modelling, sustainable resource management, and climate-related analytical approaches. It also reinforced international cooperation in sustainability-focused teaching and research, including prospective collaboration in the areas of green energy, environmental modelling, and sustainable development.
Professor Silvana Stefani is an internationally recognized scholar in applied mathematics, financial and energy modelling, and is actively involved in sustainability-related international initiatives. She leads the Green Energy Management International Summer School, which brings together researchers and students working on energy transition and climate sustainability.
