On July 8 of this year, Sodyq Safoev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis met with I.Umakhanov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and Culture of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, who visited as an international observer in the presidential election.

Chairman of the committee and senators of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation V.Timchenko and A.Salpagarov also took part in the meeting.

Emphasizing the importance of the upcoming political event, I.Umakhanov highly appreciated the organizational level of the process of preparing for and holding the presidential election of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He wished success in conducting the presidential election, which is being organized ahead of schedule.

Also, the current situation and prospects of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting. Proposals for the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, inter-regional relations, implementation of the agreements reached during the bilateral meetings of the heads of the chambers of the parliaments of the two countries were considered. They exchanged views on a number of planned joint events.
