    On 3 September 2025, the Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, Ms. Kate Feron, delivered a lecture at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. The theme of the speech was “Youth & Security and its significance for the OSCE”. The event was attended by the teaching staff, students and the leadership of the university.

    The First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rector of UWED Sodyq Safoev addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He stressed the historical importance of the dialogue between the academic community and international organizations, noting that modern security challenges are complex and require not only an interdisciplinary approach, but also the active participation of young, progressive-minded specialists.

    In her speech, Ms. Kate Feron focused on the key role of the younger generation in ensuring international security and conflict prevention.

    “Young people are not just a target group, but a key partner in preventing conflict and building sustainable societies”, she said.

    The keynote speech was followed by a lively discussion and Q&A session, in which both faculty and students of the University took an active part. Prospects for cooperation, educational initiatives and opportunities for implementing youth projects under the auspices of the OSCE were discussed.
