From 7 to 11 July 2025, the Diplomatic Academy at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy held a free short-term retraining course for employees of the State Unitary Enterprise “Uztextreyd,” which operates under the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The course was titled “Fundamentals of Foreign Policy Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan: Diplomatic Protocol, Etiquette and Negotiation Process.” It was designed for working professionals whose jobs involve international contacts, business correspondence and official visits.

Over five days, participants combined theory with hands-on practice. They studied diplomatic protocol and etiquette, learned how to write official and business letters, and practised organizing diplomatic events and conducting negotiations. They also worked on analytical methods and prepared protocol programmes for official visits, skills they can use in their work straight away.

On 11 July 2025, participants who completed the course received certificates from the Diplomatic Academy at UWED under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Diplomatic Academy regularly runs short-term professional development and retraining courses for staff of ministries, state agencies and organizations, alongside courses designed at the request of individual institutions.

Courses like this bring the university’s expertise in diplomacy and international relations to people who are not UWED students, helping them keep learning throughout their careers. The course contributes to SDG 4 “Quality Education” by offering free professional training, and to SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth” by strengthening the skills of specialists working in foreign trade.
