On June 9 of this year, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) Sodyq Safoev signed Cooperation Agreements with Svetlana Vyrypaeva, Managing Director of the Central Asia Region at HP Inc. This important partnership is aimed at the development of education, science and technology in the region.
Under the terms of the agreement, UWED students and specialists will have access to the HP LIFE educational platform, which offers online courses in the fields of entrepreneurship and digital technologies. This will expand learning opportunities not only for UWED students, but also for students from other Central Asian countries.
As part of the collaboration, HP will actively promote its educational programs through online platforms and social media, which will provide broad access to up-to-date knowledge and skills.
In addition, the parties plan to develop joint programs, including courses, trainings and internships in the field of technology, diplomacy and entrepreneurship. Mutual promotion of news and events will also be organized, which will increase awareness of scientific projects and educational initiatives.
This agreement opens up new horizons for UWED students and specialists, providing unique opportunities for training and professional growth in a rapidly developing technological world.

9 июня текущего года Первый заместитель председателя Сената Олий Мажлис, ректор Университета мировой экономики и дипломатии (УМЭД) Содык Сафаев подписал Соглашения о сотрудничестве со Светланой Вырыпаевой, Управляющим директором региона Центральной Азии в компании HP Inc. Это важное партнерство направлено на развитие образования, науки и технологий в регионе.
Согласно условиям соглашения, студенты и специалисты УМЭД получат доступ к образовательной платформе HP LIFE, предлагающей онлайн-курсы в сферах предпринимательства и цифровых технологий. Это позволит расширить возможности обучения не только для студентов УМЭД, но и для учащихся из других стран Центральной Азии.
В рамках сотрудничества HP будет активно продвигать свои образовательные программы через онлайн-платформы и социальные сети, что обеспечит широкий доступ к современным знаниям и навыкам.
Кроме того, стороны планируют разработку совместных программ, включая курсы, тренинги и стажировки в области технологий, дипломатии и предпринимательства. Также будет организовано взаимное продвижение новостей и событий, что повысит осведомленность о научных проектах и образовательных инициативах.
Это соглашение открывает новые горизонты для студентов и специалистов УМЭД, предоставляя уникальные возможности для обучения и профессионального роста в условиях стремительно развивающегося технологического мира.

From access to psychological and medical support to library resources, accommodation, career guidance, international student assistance, and healthy dining options, these services contribute to a safe, inclusive, and student-friendly university experience.

Campus Facilities & Support Services

UWED provides academic support through course coordinators assigned to each faculty and year of study. Coordinators assist students with academic planning, course-related questions, adaptation to the learning process, and communication with faculty, ensuring a structured and supportive academic experience.

UWED provides on-campus accommodation for university students and Lyceum students in a safe, supportive, and student-friendly living environment. The university hostel is designed to support students' daily life, wellbeing, and academic experience by offering access to essential residential services on campus.

UWED's student residence consists of two buildings with a total capacity of 800 places. At present, 530 university students reside there, including 125 Lyceum students. The accommodation service contributes to comfortable living conditions and helps foster an inclusive and well-organized campus community.

The residence administration works in coordination with university departments and student support bodies to ensure a safe, organized, and supportive living environment. This includes student orientation, community-building and awareness activities, support for student self-governance, and monitoring compliance with residence regulations.

Our Services

Career guidance services include individual and group consultations aimed at supporting students in career planning, professional orientation, and preparation for employment. These services help students better understand their strengths, interests, and career goals, while providing practical tools for entering the labour market.

The support covers CV and cover letter preparation, interview skills development, and guidance on effective job search strategies. Students are also provided with up-to-date information on labour market trends, employer expectations, and in-demand skills, enabling them to make informed career decisions and enhance their employability.

The university organises skills development workshops and training sessions designed to enhance students' practical, applied, and transferable skills required in the modern labour market. These activities complement academic learning and help students develop competencies relevant to professional environments.

Workshops are conducted with the involvement of HR professionals, industry experts, representatives of leading companies, banks, public institutions, international organisations, and other external stakeholders. UWED also invites specialists from major employers, including representatives of the Big Four and other prominent organisations, to share professional insights, labour market expectations, and practical advice with students.

The sessions focus on areas such as communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, digital competencies, job search preparation, and broader professional development. UWED organises, coordinates, and monitors internship placements as an essential component of students' academic and professional development. Internship opportunities are provided through a broad network of partner organisations, ensuring that students gain practical experience aligned with their field of study and labour market requirements.

The university collaborates with a wide range of partners, including government institutions, ministries, international organisations, banks, research institutes, think tanks, and leading academic institutions. Key partners include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, as well as leading research centres and policy institutions.

A qualifying internship is a mandatory part of the academic programme for students in their 3rd and 4th years of study:
• for 3rd-year students – during the summer period;
• for 4th-year students – during the winter period.

The duration of the internship typically ranges from 5 to 10 weeks, depending on the programme and academic requirements.

UWED regularly organises structured career events designed to connect students and graduates with employers and to facilitate dialogue on labour market expectations, internship opportunities, and entry-level recruitment requirements. Over recent years, the format of these events has been progressively refined in response to stakeholder needs and feedback.

In 2023, the university held a university-wide Career Day in a job fair format, bringing together more than 75 public and private organisations. The event supported graduate employment and enabled direct interaction between students, graduates, and employers through employer booths, consultations, and interviews.

In 2024, UWED continued the university-wide Career Day / Job Fair format with participation of more than 50 leading organisations, including ministries, state agencies, banks, consulting firms, and private companies.

In 2025, UWED introduced a more targeted approach through faculty-based Career Days, allowing employers to engage directly with specific academic programmes and student profiles. In the same year, the university also launched [UWED Career Fair 2025](/news/1081) / Career Week, with a stronger focus on private-sector engagement, combining employer sessions, soft skills and career development activities, and a large-scale career fair with direct recruitment interaction.

These events provide students with direct exposure to professional environments, help them better understand current labour market expectations, and create opportunities for networking, career exploration, internship placement, and future employment. They also serve as an important platform for strengthening university-employer cooperation and expanding professional opportunities for students and graduates.

UWED supports student innovation, entrepreneurship, and project-based initiatives by creating opportunities for startup development, digital skills growth, and practical collaboration. Students are encouraged to turn ideas into projects, work in teams, strengthen entrepreneurial thinking, and engage with mentors and professionals from different sectors.

An important platform for this work is the [Digital Education and Startup Acceleration Center](/divisions/66), which was opened at UWED in 2022 as part of the university's broader efforts to strengthen digital transformation and student innovation. The centre operates as an educational and startup development unit under the university and contributes to the creation of a more dynamic and innovation-oriented campus environment.

Dedicated facilities have been allocated for the centre on campus, including a 60-seat interactive classroom, a meeting room for discussions and brainstorming, coworking space, and a specialised room for project presentations. These spaces provide students with a practical environment for collaboration, learning, and project development.

Through the centre, students can participate in consultations, competitions, hackathons, workshops, and incubation activities aimed at helping them refine ideas and develop viable startup projects. The centre also supports the development of practical skills in areas such as project design, business modelling, marketing, teamwork, communication, and presentation.

The Kelajakka Qadam Programme is a career-oriented educational initiative designed to support students in developing practical professional skills and preparing for successful entry into the labour market. The programme combines training sessions, mentoring, and practical career development activities to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional readiness.

UWED monitors graduate employment outcomes as part of its broader commitment to student development, employability, and institutional improvement. This work helps the university better understand graduates' career pathways, further studies, and transition to professional life, while also strengthening evidence-based support for current and future students.

The university regularly collects and analyses information on graduate employment, continuation to master's studies, and other post-graduation trajectories. Based on these results, UWED prepares summary statistics, analytical materials, and internal reports that support career guidance, labour market alignment, and strategic planning.

Services Available

At UWED, basic medical support is available to help maintain the health and wellbeing of students, academic staff, and administrative staff. Medical assistance is provided through the university's Campus Medical Room, which serves as an on-campus point for primary healthcare support and consultation.

Partnerships with public and private institutions create additional opportunities for students to participate in international projects and share experiences. This interaction helps the university to provide students with relevant knowledge and practical skills about SDG’s thereby enhancing their ability to meet the challenges of sustainable development.
