“7+1” programme for Korean students successfully concluded

From 19 to 30 October 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted the intensive course “Immersion in Russian Language and Culture” under the “7+1” programme for students of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), Republic of Korea.
Over two weeks, the visiting students completed 40 hours of Russian language classes and took part in a 10-hour cultural programme. The classes were taught by N. Sharipova, Associate Professor, and R. Radjapova, Senior Lecturer, of the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages, using a communicative approach. Pair and group work, interactive games, short presentations and live conversations with UWED students allowed the guests to use the language in practice from the very first days.
A distinctive feature of the programme was that every lesson topic continued beyond the classroom, in real life. New words and phrases were reinforced in field lessons in the city’s streets, museums and bazaars. At Chorsu Bazaar and the handicraft stalls, the students bargained in Russian and discovered colourful ceramics, suzani embroidery and national souvenirs.
The cultural programme gave the students a close-up feel for Uzbekistan’s rich history and traditions. They visited the Centre for Islamic Civilization and the Hazrati Imam Complex, the State Museum of Timurid History, Amir Temur Square and the Kukeldash Madrasah. Trying on national costumes and getting to know traditional dolls left a particularly lasting impression on the guests.
Alongside the historical monuments, the students were shown the new, modern face of Tashkent. They took in the city panorama from the TV Tower and visited Seoul Park, a symbol of Uzbek-Korean friendship. In this way, the guests saw for themselves a fast-growing capital where the ancient and the modern blend in harmony.
The programme became a true linguistic and cultural exchange: language learning went hand in hand with intercultural dialogue, and friendly ties were formed between young people of the two countries. At the end of the course, the students completed a test on the topics covered and wrote an essay in Russian on “My Impressions of Uzbekistan”.
UWED will continue to develop its cooperation with Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and looks forward to welcoming Korean students again!
