UWED Lecturer Takes Part in A Special Diplomatic Roundtable in Mumbai

On 22 October 2026, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), through its Office for International Affairs (TISS Global), convened the TISS Diplomatic Roundtable on Higher Education at its Mumbai Campus in India. Alisher Bobonazarov, lecturer at the Department of Civil Law and International Private Law Disciplines of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), took part in the Roundtable as a participant of the ITEC-TISS International Certificate Programme on Higher Education Administration. The event brought together distinguished diplomats, representatives of diplomatic missions, academic leaders, policymakers and higher education professionals for a meaningful dialogue on strengthening international cooperation in higher education.

The Roundtable featured two panel discussions. The first, “Internationalisation and Reciprocal Partnerships: From Mobility to Institution-Building”. The second panel, “Equity, Access, and the Global South in Higher Education Internationalisation”.

This diplomatic roundtable closely reflects the ideas of Sustainable Development Goal 4 — “Quality Education,” specifically target 4.b, which calls for expanding international cooperation and scholarships for higher education, as well as Goal 10 — “Reduced Inequalities,” in particular target 10.2, promoting the social, economic and political inclusion of all, which was directly addressed through the discussion on equity, access and the Global South in higher education internationalisation. The event also embodies Goal 17 — “Partnerships for the Goals,” especially targets 17.16 and 17.17, which call for strengthening the global partnership for sustainable development through effective public, public-private and civil-society partnerships.

Participation in such high-level diplomatic forums broadens UWED lecturers' professional outlook and contributes to strengthening the university's academic and diplomatic ties with leading international institutions. Undoubtedly, engagement in events of this kind serves to deepen Uzbekistan's involvement in the global dialogue on higher education and international cooperation.
