UWED Students Explore Indian Culture at the “India Up Close: Threads of the Silk Road” Festival

On October 31, 2026, students of the Faculties of International Relations and International Law of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), accompanied by Vokhidova Nargiza, the teacher of the English Language Department, attended the cultural festival “India Up Close: Threads of the Silk Road”. The event was organized by the Embassy of India in Tashkent and aimed to showcase the richness and diversity of Indian culture and traditions.
The festival featured a vibrant programme of cultural and interactive activities, offering visitors an opportunity to experience different aspects of India's cultural heritage. The programme included traditional Indian dances accompanied by tabla music, yoga and meditation sessions, mehendi and rangoli workshops, as well as demonstrations of Indian fashion and culinary traditions. Visitors also enjoyed performances of popular Bollywood songs, dance shows, and a variety of traditional Indian food.
The lively atmosphere, colourful performances, and opportunities for direct cultural engagement made the festival an especially enriching experience for the students. Through music, dance, art, and cuisine, they were able to gain a closer insight into India's cultural traditions and contemporary cultural life.
Participation in such international cultural events plays an important role in broadening students' horizons, developing intercultural awareness, and fostering respect for cultural diversity. For future specialists in international relations and law, direct engagement with different cultural traditions also contributes to a deeper understanding of the cultural dimensions of international cooperation and diplomacy.
The festival once again demonstrated the importance of cultural diplomacy and educational exchange in strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between nations.
