At the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), an educational session dedicated to the United Nations framework for accelerating the eradication of extreme poverty was organised under the guidance of Nilufar Yunusova, Senior Lecturer.

The session focused on the Framework for Accelerating the Eradication of Extreme Poverty in Support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, highlighting international approaches to poverty reduction, social inclusion and sustainable development.

The activity was conducted in English and provided participants with an opportunity to explore the principles and strategic priorities of Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1) – No Poverty, particularly the United Nations commitment to Leave No One Behind.

During the session, participants examined the multidimensional nature of poverty, recognising that poverty extends beyond insufficient income to include limited access to education, healthcare, social protection, decent employment and essential services.

Particular attention was given to five guiding principles of poverty eradication: inclusive development, national ownership, sustainable economic growth, social protection, and gender equality.

The session also addressed key international priorities, including economic empowerment, support for vulnerable populations, equitable access to basic services, and the importance of international cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Through an interactive discussion format, participants explored the role of governments, international organisations, academic institutions and civil society in addressing global development challenges.

The educational activity contributed to strengthening participants' understanding of international development policies, global governance mechanisms and the importance of coordinated action in tackling poverty and inequality.

This initiative reflects UWED's commitment to integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into educational activities, fostering global awareness and preparing future specialists to contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
