UWED Professor Etibor Sultanova participated in a round table dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the SCO

On September 23 of this year, Sarbon University in Tashkent, together with the Public Diplomacy Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Uzbekistan, organized a round table on the theme “The Shanghai Cooperation Organization: From a Quarter Century of Trust and Cooperation to a Shared Future”.

This event, dedicated to discussing the 25-year development path of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Uzbekistan's initiatives within the organization, and modern directions of public diplomacy, was attended by representatives of government agencies, research institutions, higher education institutions, experts, faculty members, and students.

Professor Etibor Sultanova from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy also participated in this round table, highlighting new opportunities for science diplomacy and academic cooperation within the SCO in her presentation. She noted that deepening cooperation in science and innovation, expanding joint research, and strengthening ties between scientific centers and universities will contribute to sustainable development and the strengthening of intellectual potential across the SCO space.

Following the presentations, an open dialogue was held with the participation of experts and youth. During the discussions, a number of proposals and ideas were voiced regarding the further development of public diplomacy within the SCO, support for youth and women's diplomacy projects, expansion of inter-university scientific cooperation, intensification of cultural and humanitarian exchanges, as well as the implementation of digital diplomacy and innovative initiatives. The event participants emphasized that the principles of the SCO's “Shanghai Spirit” remain a solid foundation for regional trust and cooperation today.

Following the round table, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Public Diplomacy Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Uzbekistan and Sarbon University. This memorandum provides for joint scientific and practical research, the organization of conferences and forums, support for joint projects involving faculty members, young scientists, and students, as well as the consistent development of initiatives aimed at promoting the goals and principles of the SCO.
