Students of UWED undertake internships at the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad

Students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Khamrakulov Jasurbek and Ganikhujayev Asrorkhuja, are currently undertaking their internship at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Belgium.

As part of their internship, the students have had the opportunity to gain practical insight into political, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, as well as the institutional structure, functions and decision-making mechanisms of the European Union.

As part of this experience, the students visited the European Parliament, where they explored in greater detail its institutional structure, powers and key areas of activity. During the visit, they learned about the role of the European Parliament within the EU institutional framework, its function in representing the interests of European citizens, its participation in the legislative process, and its interaction with other EU institutions.

The visit also provided an opportunity to learn more about the work of Members of the European Parliament, the role of political groups in parliamentary activities, the functions of parliamentary committees and political groups, as well as the processes through which legislative initiatives are examined and political decisions are shaped at the European Union level.

Particular attention was paid to the European Union’s external relations and international cooperation mechanisms, including the role of the European Parliament in the EU’s foreign policy. The students also examined the development of Uzbekistan–EU relations, including political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, investment, education and academic exchanges, transport and connectivity, as well as regional cooperation with Central Asia.

The visit served as a valuable opportunity for the students to gain first-hand knowledge of the functioning of EU institutions, complement their theoretical understanding of international relations and diplomacy with practical experience, and develop a deeper understanding of the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan–EU relations.
