UWED Holds a Solemn Assembly for the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On September 7, 2026, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) held a solemn assembly dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event was opened by Sodyq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Rector of UWED. In his speech, he emphasized the historical significance of gaining independence and our country's tremendous achievements in all spheres of life over the past period. According to him, education and science hold a special place in this progress, serving as the main driving force for the development of modern society.
Summarizing the results of the past academic year, S. Safoev noted the university's significant successes in its research and educational activities. He highlighted the increase in publications by faculty members in prestigious international journals, the growth in grant funding for scientific research, and the successful implementation of several innovative projects in collaboration with leading foreign universities and specialists.
Concluding his speech, the Rector called upon the faculty and all staff of UWED to unite their efforts to fulfill their primary mission: training highly qualified and competitive professionals capable of making a worthy contribution to the prosperity and future of Uzbekistan.
The event also featured a formal ceremony for the presentation of the "35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan" commemorative medals.
In accordance with a Decree by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, this high recognition was bestowed upon UWED professors, instructors, and staff who have made a significant contribution to the development of the country, education, and science. The commemorative medals were ceremoniously presented to them in honor of Independence Day.
Additionally, a group of professors, instructors, and university staff were awarded for their outstanding achievements in research, significant contributions to the educational process, and dedicated work.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by an artistic performance. The Bravo orchestra took part, presenting their vibrant musical numbers to the audience and lending an even more uplifting mood to the event.
