UWED Expands International Cooperation with China’s Leading Universities and Research Institutions

On August 24-26 of this year, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev took part in the international conference "Common Future, New Page of Asia: Building a Community of Shared Future for Asian Countries", held in Beijing.

The event was attended by more than 200 people, including political and public figures from different countries, heads of ministries and departments of China, representatives of the diplomatic corps.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, S. Safoev briefly spoke about the main directions, goals and objectives of reforms implemented in Uzbekistan as part of the construction of New Uzbekistan. Proposals were also put forward aimed at strengthening the atmosphere of good-neighborliness and cooperation, peace and friendship formed in Asia in recent years.

In their speeches, the participants of the event stressed the importance of strengthening solidarity, mutual trust and cooperation among Asian countries, ensuring common progress and prosperity.

Meetings were also held with the heads of some foreign delegations participating in the conference. Thus, during the last meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the National People's Congress of China Wang Dongming, issues of further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, ensuring the implementation of the tasks outlined by the leaders of the two countries were discussed. The possibility of organizing a visit of a delegation of the National People's Congress to Uzbekistan was also considered.

During the conversation, it was noted that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and China have reached a high level. Wang Dongming stressed the important role of the leaders of the two countries in this process.

During the meeting with President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Gao Xiang, Rector of Peking University Gao Sun and Rector of Xinhua University Li Lumining, an exchange of views took place on the further development of cooperation between the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and leading higher education and research institutions of China, identifying new promising areas.
