On May 5-6, 2026, Lund University hosted an international scientific and practical conference on “Mapping and Building a Foundation for Nordic Research in Central Asia” was held at Lund University on May 5, 2026. The event gathered over 60 scholars, diplomats, and policymakers from across the Nordic region and Central Asia to consolidate research efforts and identify strategic gaps in the field.
The event featured six thematic panels, a high-level policy panel, and a strategic roadmap session designed to consolidate Nordic research efforts in Central Asia.
At this international conference, Professor N.A. Nugmanov presented a paper on “Cybersecurity and Digital Resilience in Central Asia”. The presentation focused on the development of cybersecurity in Central Asia, the scientific and practical aspects of preventing new threats arising from artificial intelligence, and strengthening strategic cooperation between Central Asian countries in the field of cybersecurity.
The second day focused on infrastructure in this area and included a high-level panel discussion on policy issues. This session aimed to connect academic research with real-world management problems and policy needs.
On May 6, 2026, at an international conference organized within the framework of the NORCA project at Lund University, Professor N.A. Nugmanov presented the results of his research paper, “Artificial Intelligence in Research and Education: Transforming Academic Cooperation between the Nordic Region and Central Asia”. The presentation offered ideas on how to focus efforts to ensure the success of regional cooperation in Central Asia on specific problems, strengthen integration processes in education, develop programs jointly with universities, research institutes, and the real economy, conduct research, and train highly qualified specialists.
The results of the research and legal analysis on the topics of “Cybersecurity and Digital Resilience in Central Asia” and “Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Education: Transforming Academic Cooperation between the Nordic Region and Central Asia” were highly praised by the event participants.
